Can't believe this.

I just had to post this because I really have to tell everyone that'll listen.

I went to Fallsview yesterday for shits and giggles. I waited for about a half our to be seated at a $2/$5 table.

Started the table with a few so-so hands, made some raises and everyone would go away. But suddenly some weird stuff started happening.. a lot of crazy raises, all ins and calls.. But the only "Brag" I felt you all had to hear is this one..

A new player sits at the table and blind raises. Deal comes out, I take a peek at my cards and lookie lookie, I see Ad Ah.. So I raise to $40...

Out of nowhere, the guy on my left raises to $80.. I'm thinking, "What the hell is going on here?"

So instead of calling it and waiting for a flop, I go ALL IN because I have had my Aces cracked too many times and I just wanted him to go away and give me his money.

He actually CALLS me.. so I'm thinking he's got at least a pair, AK AQ AJ, something like that.. but he actually turns over K10 offsuit. He called my All in for $420 on King Ten Off?!?

Now it can never be easy, because the flop comes out 6 8 9 Rainbow.. had to make me sweat.. But turn and river cards were blanks..

I sat there shaking my head.. I don't know who the hell in their right mind would have done that in the first place.. He didn't have any reads on me, the table just opened so I don't understand why he did that.. and even while he was thinking what to do he even said.. OH, COULD IT BE ACES? I couldn't have made it more obvious unless I just came right out and told him..

Anyhow, that's my Brag for the day.. But I really don't know if I should be bragging.. hahaha

Curiosity, what were the effective stacks when you pushed over his raise to $80.?

I shoved 420, he had about 620-640 behind I believe...

    You shoved $420 into a $137 pot.
    Still think you hate money.
  • I thought this kind of thing only happened online
  • Would have been better to 4-bet to $180ish, and see what happens. Most times jamming your whole stack preflop won't get you a caller that has you covered, which means you'll lose EV over the long run.

His call with K10 is a pretty (we'll say) loose call. I wonder if it's his favourite hand?

Ah well.. It was pretty crazy out there yesterday, so that was the least "weird" thing that happened while I was at the table. I know I shouldn't have shoved in the first place, but again, since it was a new table... I really just wanted to take his money and get on to the next hand.

But I'll take it.. that's for sure.. ^-^
  • Just something Ive been playing with the idea of lately "whats your hand worth"

Sounds messed up, if he shows AA without getting the max or he doesnt flip it up at all and takes the small pot, I agree he shoves, when most dont know your image and gambling is about on the table whats the worst thats going to happen....you get the $137, sounds like a real loss to me LOL. You get cracked and lose these things happen and thats poker. Most wont give up AA anyway.

Back to whats your hand worth, if you dont show you have given nothing away and lost nothing, the longer your at a table without flipping a hand up the less they know especially at the casino, home games not so much, when you flip the nuts up you can get away with ALOT more later semi-bluffing if you only flip up the nuts.
  • Also the concept, of "your supposed to fold when I over shove" some people are taught what bluffs look like and think this factors into your decision, yes your bluffing here HA
