Dealt to McAusland [8c 8s]

focifater: raises 17882 to 35000
McAusland: ? ? ? ?

Context: $4.40 8max tourney, ITM, 17 left, one more gone and we move up another $8.50 ($19.50 to $27.00), not worried about PaperChase as he's shoving any A, any pp 55+. focifater is sitting 3/17 at this point, has yet to play any hands since I sat down (3 orbits). So, fold or shove? I don't think calling makes any sense in this situation since I would be commiting 50%+ of my stack.

  • folding was probably it, your racing and at that point its not worth it.....more importantly you should have went for a walk instead...love those quad hands you dont play!!
  • Its a tough one here. You have a good enough stack its ok to fold, but in these situations it usually is that your a little bit better then a race. Because I also assume first shover has an A or maybe a hand like KQ and the Min raiser is gonna have one of the cards the first shover has. SO instead of 6 outs you have to dodge 5. or 8 to beat both but I think most important is beating forcifater. However knowing that he hadnt played a hand in 3 orbits at this level a fold might be better here I think. If you pushed it would be fine too, but I think from your discription a fold is better.
  • I actually popped open the hand replayer thingy and scanned through every hand since I sat at the table. He had played two. From the BB. I thought the fold was the right play as I was too easily dominated by him in that situation. He would make that same play 3 more times in the tourney (that I saw) with 1010, JJ and QQ, so I think that AQo was the bottom of his range for that play.
  • snap fold here and don't be results oriented. We assume the SS is shoving any 2 cards and when he is 3-bet our 88 starts looking weak.

If we assume SS shoves with Any 2 and the 3better makes our hand look completely like a flip and at this stage of the tournament i don't like flipping against 2 random hands rather than folding and waiting for a better spot.
