  • I'm definately going to be in vegas at that time but I dont expect to be playing in any WSOP events unless I can win entrance online.
  • Well good luck to Mr.Dave Scharf and Mr.All_Aces. I hope you guys make the final table so we can see you guys on tv.
  • Thanks clown. Actually, Dave was on the TV table in 2004 for a while, long before the final table. So, he's already broken the seal. Now it's my turn.
  • aces, you planning on playing in any of the earlier events?
  • At the moment I plan on arriving shortly before the main event, playing in the 1K rebuy, then playing sats to the main. Beyond that, I'm not sure. Hell, I'm not even sure about that lol....
  • How well did Dave do? What place did he finish in? Doe anyone know how many players where in the main event last year?

There were approx. 1600 players last year and Dave finished 94th I believe.

  • I could be wrong also, but I think it was 2600 or so...

    Mais oui!

There were 2576 players in the 2004 WSOP main event, and Dave did in fact finish in the money in 94th place, winning $20K.

  • I Have been thinking about attending the $1500 NL event #2 June 3rd, and also the super satelite day July 5/6. starting to put profits away weekly for the tourneys. Hope to meet some playersfrom here there. GLTA
  • Right...about 2600. That's what I meant to say. This year should be more exciting then last now that we will seemingly have more preresentation from pokerforum.ca. Following last year was a blast with DS in the battle.

  • I have a question..... i see this http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/circuit.aspx schedule of different yournaments.

And anybody can attend those events as long as you pay your buy in fee? If thats the case then i might make my way to one in April.
  • Anyone else think it's bizarre that the WSOP is now a 'circuit'? There are like 5 WSOP main events/year now. Of course, none will be as popular as THE main event, but still, I feel that having all these WSOP's kind of diminishes the cache of playing in the big one. "I played in the WSOP main event". "Which one?".

To answer your question Vladk, yes, anyone can play in these events as long as they cough up the buy-in. To the best of my knowledge, they are not invitational events, nor do you have to win your way into them to play.

AA, i think the other events will have a reputation similar to the early events at the WSOP. Your a winner etc... but in reality the main event is on a totally seperate playing field.

It's like saying winning your division is the same as winning the Super Bowl or World Series ... they just aren't on the same level. Or saying cause you won a 5000 person freeroll you're as good as the person who wins the WSOP which will also have 5000 people.

The true main event i think will always be viewed differently
  • "I played in the WSOP main event"

If someone says this and doesn't mean Vegas, that's pretty lame. :)
