Poker Chip Rental?
Hello,
A friend of mine is hosting a tournament in the coming weeks and needs to rent poker chips for the event. Can anyone suggest a place that does that? A link or phone number would be appreciated.

I know that Azim sells them, and no I'm not trying to advertise for him... just trying to help you out. There are plenty of other places as well, but it might be worth sending a PM to Azim, especially if your friend is ever considering hosting a game again. After the cost of a few rentals, he could have bought himself the chips in the first place.
And to directly answer your question, no I don't know of any place that rents chips, although I'm sure some exist. I'd suggest checking with the local 'party supply' places... generally they rent casino-type stuff for stags, including blackjack tables and presumably chips. However, I suspect that most places would only rent those cheap plastic Bicycle chips, so it's best to ask.
I have a 1000 piece set of 11.5 gram chips. 5 colours. 300 white, 200 blue, red, and green, and 100 black. perfect for a 3 table event with buy-in's. it's in a huge case, 3 decks of cards, dealer buttons. easy to carry.
e-mail me back if you are interested.
thanks man

What are you talking about? There are places in Canada other than Toronto?
And I agree that probably some kind of party supply rental store would be your best bet for renting chips.
Some alternatives:
1. If this is not a very serious tournament, buy or borrow some low to medium quality chips and that will probably be fine, and not too much more expensive (possibly even cheaper) than renting.
2. If this is a semi-serious tournament, there's a decent chance that one of the players already owns some good quality chips, and might be kind enough to loan them to you for the tournament.
3. If this is a very serious tournament, high quality chips are a must, and you might want to go with rental in this case if purchase is not a viable option.

i eman, chips sets cost alot of money right? so why not try and recoup the cost buy letting soemoen else use them??
and why buy a chip set (that may need to be a large chip set) to hold a tournament if they only get used for the tournament??
and why not help out fellow poker players in our little poker comunity first who arent going to charge as much as a party store?
just a thought
thanks

My personal feeling is that there should be nothing wrong with this. But aside from my personal feelings, there's also this pesky Criminal Code thing.
Charging someone a fee for the rental of poker equipment might create a bit of legal gray area*, wheras lending someone chips certainly would not.
I woudn't recommend trying to rent out gambling equipment for a fee until you've gathered some solid legal advice (which this post is not claiming to be) on the subject.
Standard disclaimer "not legal advice" applies.

I will sell them to you very cheap. Say all of them for $300.
They are 9 gram "Super Diamond" composite chips. Low end, but much better than plastic.
