Number of games online.

Been playing online(PS, FT), for about a year and can only seem to manage 2 games at a time.
How many do you play at a time and how the heck do you manage it without causing huge delays and loosing track of what is going on at each table.

You can tell when someone can't manage it because they use the whole timer every time it is their turn.

I find it hard to remember how each player plays.

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks

  • Right now I am working on 6 tables for MTT's. I have run up to 10 for 90man SnG

PT3/HEM with a hud really helps.

There are also tons of autohotkey scripts to help out.

I prefer stacking my tables, but others like tiling.
  • not sure if it matters between MTT/SNGs and cash games? I like to play 4 cash game tables at a time. I can keep all of the tables on one screen and its easy enough to keep up on the action. I think I play way too many hands pre-flop, vs some of the other players that play 10+ tables at once. Don't use any additional software, etc. but rely on keyboard/mouse which probably slows me down a lot.

You should check out this video where bowlboy is playing 24 tables at once. He is the real expert on multi-tables. Not sure if he is using software to tile like this?

  • I tile 6 MTT's regularly....can do more, but 6 is very comfortable. I have a 27" monitor and 24" monitor. 27" I use for the tables, 24" I use for lobby's (usually have 5+ open) and surfin porn.

Pokertracker or Holdem Mgr with HUD (heads up Display?) are required to know the players, as you wouldn't be able to keep track otherwise.
  • It becomes easier as you get more experience/get better. You should be able to play at least 8 tables with no external software quite easily if they're full ring. In general if you can't play a lot of tables its because you probably aren't ready to be doing so, because you're thinking too much about decisions that should be automatic, or you're playing more hands than you should and therefore having to actually focus on multiple tables at once. In practice when you're playing 4-6 tables there's still a lot of down time since you're only playing 15-20% of hands total.
