Canadians score in WPO

I just got back from the World Poker Open in Tunica Mississippi. While it is a long haul from Canada, I was pleased to see some Canadians made the journey - and scored.

I have always wanted to meet Danny "Buncher" Hall. I've always been a fan of his online game, and was hoping to see him score on the B&M felt. He didn't let me down. In his first supersat, Danny scored his seat for the $10,000 final event. He also made the money in the $500 Pot Limit Hold'em event. Unfortunately his last two hands were pocket pairs that ended on the unlucky side of AK coin-flips. So while he didn't crack the final table, I felt he was playing a final table game. He will be flying back for the final event in the next week - and I wish him the best for another crack at the final table.

Danny pointed out fellow Canadian David Cung, still in the Pot Limit Hold'em hunt. Cung made the final table, but as the shortest stack. With barely enough chips to see him through two rounds, I thought his chances to improve were slim. But I obviously underestimated his skill. He quickly stole a couple of hands to give him some breathing room. He patiently waited for two larger stacks to bust, and then turned up the heat. Cung took his meager stack to a 6th place finish, and I can only imagine what he could have done had he had just a little more ammo going in.

For those of you that didn't make the journey, I can only say that you were well represented by the Canadians that did.
