The Rio Las Vegas

Anybody ever stayed there? I've been reading the reviews online and the opinions expressed seem to very quite a bit at both end of the spectrums. Some love it, others really hated their stay.

Anybody have an opinion either way?

  • Wow, just for shits and giggles I checked out the reviews as well. While I find hotel reviews in Vegas polarized as you mentioned, I usually look for trends.

Trends I noticed for the RIO were... expensive food, stinky rooms, mid level managers don't care. A few people mentioned the shuttle service to the strip was unreliable.

Expensive, stinky and don't care however are pretty common in the polar reviews of almost any Vegas hotels though.
  • I have stayed there the past 4 years for The WSOP. Each time stayed in a non smoking room, it was nice and clean.

As for food there, I did t find it to be more expensive then anywhere else in Vegas at a Casino.

The table games minimum are a little higher then some other casinos but that really is not a deal breaker to me.

The shuttle service was good for my first 2 years there, you do have to wait but really what do you expect. A cab ride to the strip is not anymore then $10, depending on where you get dropped off at, just choose a casino close to the Rio.

Rio better then Imperial Palace, better then Flamingo, better then Harrahs, better then Escaliber. Not better then Caesars. Those are the only places I have stayed so far in Vegas.

Hope that helps, but everyone's preference is different.

Thanks Steve, that does help. Glad to hear it's not an overpriced dive like some reviewers have said. If you were happy during the WSOP when its super busy, I'm sure we'll be fine in the fall.

I'm pretty sure we'll be renting a car again, so I'm not worried about the shuttle service. As long as somebody (Compuease!) is sober to drive :D

As long as somebody can point me in the right direction to drive on the streets.
  • pretty dated and out of the way; poker room looked kind of lame IMO. Better to stay on the strip. Planet Hollywood is usually $59

Great deal John, similar to what I got last year using Mrs Moose's # as my companion at IP... Now if I could only get that deal as well...
  • Ya Johnnie that is pretty sweet! you must be a slot degen.:D
  • The Rio would be my #1 choice whenever playing at the WSOP; even though a poker site provided me with a free luxury suite at Monte Carlo, I missed the convenience of Rio's suites. Rio's rooms are bigger than the standard rooms at IP, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Treasure Island, etc. The shuttle service was not a problem for me, as there seem to be three separate shuttles going to Caesars Palace, Harrah's and Paris.

There are better poker rooms to play at such as MGM and Venetian, so I'd only play at the Rio as a last resort.

Haha. Nope. I assume we were offered such a great deal because we're booking so far in advance.

Comp- have you logged into caesars.com to see what they would offer you?
  • well if the rooms are basically free, not much of a decision now is it.
  • For that price you really can't go wrong. Especially with your plans of taking a car rental, it might be more convenient to not have to go around the Blvd. each time you're going to/from your hotel
