Did this due to A- number of limpers B- number of short stacks that limped in C- buyin of tourney. All that seemed to make my brain say "Shove and one of them HAS to call you!"

  • No I don't think this is a good thing. Table ninja sets up your bet to 3x + 1 for each limper....thats 375 i think, or whatever it is. Thats a good start and it keep you consistent through your play. It also makes the decision for you, sometimes I'll change the bet a little maybe 425 so most of the time there won't be multiple callers. After that I'll get it in on the flop if theres no a or k, and sometimes slowplay and get it in anyways.

Just don't fear the flop, you need to gain chips with this hand by hopefully having a weak play call. Sometimes they'll all call and youll flop a set.
  • I'm surprised no one called you. At the lower buy-ins SNGs ($1-$10) I have have found this to be a legit and effective tactic in those circumstances and will usually get 1-2 callers (for whatever reason) with weak Aces or K something.... (naturally I wouldn't recommend it in a MTT or against better players...., but I think most here would get that :-)
  • That's what you get for ducking out on the Missus to play poker . . . :-X
  • Raise normally to get value, this seems silly, we don't hate 2 or 3 callers
  • At these stakes, players really really want to see a flop. They don't really care about odds, they just want to try and catch a piece of it. They don't want to play for all of their chips unless they have a real hand, so unless they have something like 55+ or AT+ you're rarely getting a caller (this is often the top of limpers' ranges).

I would stick in a large raise here, something like 400 like darbday said, and watch you get 3 callers. But that's kind of what we want, build a nice pot with the best hand. Just proceed with caution on the flop, never slow play but don't cbet light.
