  • Am I the only one whose first thought was, "I wonder what their chips look like?"

This could lead to some interesting singe marks on my M/C . . . :D
  • Nooooo. My favourite old school casino. North End of Vegas is screwed now. Goodbye Riviera, Circus Circus, Slots O Fun, Stratosphere. Probably in that order.
  • So, there will be a couple new mega-resorts being planned for when the economy recovers, is what you're telling me . . .
and plenty o' Paulson's for us chip degens to scrap over, too, right?
  • That's too bad. I liked that casino.

I certainly hope that Kristy-clone of a dealer can find another job someplace else.
  • I think I've been to Vegas 10 times or so and have never stepped foot in The Sahara,

I believe Riviera was already planned for next year I think. I play the VNEA pool championships that are normally held there every year for the last 15 at least. This year, they moved to Ballys for this year.

I've stayed at just about every casino in that area......Sahara, Circus Circus, Riv.....alot are gone already....La Concha, Westward Ho (luvd that place, and the best name ever), Stardust......oh the memories
  • Last trip I heard a rumour that Imperial Palace is also slated to be demolished.
  • First time I went to Vegas we stayed at the Sahara. I liked it because it was cheap and actually got a kick out of the fact is was kind of run down for nostalgia. I'm also a big Sinatra fan. They were doing renos at the time.

Next time we went there, not so much. Got convinced to stay there again. The line to register was terrible. Some total slosh bag puked all over herself waiting in line. When we got our room key card, the first one didn't work. Second didn't work. Third we demanded staff come up with us. Entered room with us, tables and chairs knocked over and it looked like someone had been murdered in there. Staff guy almost crapped himself and couldn't get us out of the room quick enough.

Took another 1/2 hour to get a room. They refused to comp us anything for our troubles. My thoughts of nostalgia went downhill very fast.
  • Are you kidding? You almost got the room that Tony Spilotro had? Wowser . . .

    hope not :(
  • Harrahs owns every casino on that side south of Venetian. I think the long term plan was to bulldoze most of them - incl. OSheas and Casino Royale and build another mega resort. You can pretty much expect that plan to be shelved. Banks aren't loaning money to build casinos anymore. City Centre was barely completed. Boyd Gaming has shut down construction on Echelon (where Stardust used to be). Incidently Boyd flipped Barbary Coast (now Bill's) to Harrah's for the land where Echelon was going as the last piece of Harrah's own mega plan. The Fontainebleau mega project is also DOA, and they were mostly complete. The furniture ordered for Fontainebleau was sold in auction to the Plaza, which is now reno-ing to go along with the new furniture.
