If I had a free buy-in for you, what would you want?
Hey guys,
At the tail end of my CPT thread, I posed a question to all the guys on here that prefer playing live tournaments, but it got buried, so new thread.
If you could play any live tournaments in Canada and I were to stake you with the buy-ins, which events would you choose? Feel free to list as many events as you'd like.
My goal is to identify the most popular/best live events across the country, from BC to the Maritimes.
Cheers.

Ok then if you mean Casino events... I guess Fallsview Poker Classic...
Where do I pickup my ticket?
Fallsview Classic
Any WPT or WSOPC or NAPT that may come to Canada
2. Any future WPT, WSOP or NAPT event in Canada
3. Casino Brantford - when the big buy-in events return after the renovations.
4. Any other Ontario casino big buy-in event.
I heard that the structures for the Fallsview events were terribad, especially when you consider the high buy-in relative to the average buy-in for 40-60 minute levels out here...or just spend a few $s and fly to the US and play the numerous tourny series offered every couple of months in Vegas.
Harvest Classic a close second. Have friends in Regina wouldn't mind getting together with again as well.
There's one in Alberta I think in the fall, not sure which casino though, wouldn't mind heading out there sometime either.
Nothing really in Ontario other than Fallsview Classic. Need more in Ontario, and can't for the life of me figure out why there aren't many more than there are. Our demographic should be right up there for hosting majors.
@GTA: any specific events in Alberta? As for the US, obviously we have a few of those planned.
@Blonde: could you give me a little more info on the Brantford stuff please?
Sounds like the BCPC and Fallsview are well ahead at this point. Ignore my name/avatar...something much better is on the horizon comp/yoda.
I don't play tournies so I don't know the specifics...in the summer there is a very good series in Calgary which includes with the 5k HU...last year it was spread across 3 local casinos. Pretty sure if you search COPC Calgary on here you'll get some hits from last year's event.
If you haven't been to Calgary it's a very nice city and only an hour away from Banff/Canmore...both towns which are worth a visit for a couple of days.
Agreed, beautiful...
You don't bother with the GBH events anymore?
Patience grasshopper. All will be revealed in good time. Should be around the middle of March.
2. Fallsview Poker Classic
3. Harvest Classic in Regina
4. COPC (if it goes again)
There's a couple in Edmonton that I don't include (as I'll play them regardless) which should all rank pretty high (Western Cdn Poker Championship, Alberta Poker Championships)
2. BCPC. Seems to be the "Big Dog" of tournies in this country.
3. Something in Ontario, Fallsview is the biggest, I think.
4. Any West Side event. Have to support the Forum folks.
2) BCPC, it is the best, hands down
3) Winnipeg, because I have never been, structure looks great and should have a ton of Regina and hopefully bridges to Ontario players
4) Poker Pro Classic is Montreal, februaryish, Four Aces. Buyin of 1650 is out of my range, good structure and decent pot. 4 Aces Depstack event would be good, but hard to justify a special trip for a single 1 day.
5) COPC is in my back yard, like T8 its almost a given, I think it deserves to be higher on my own list, but I like getting out of town
6) Edmonton I should actually bump to first or second, thats how much fun I have there and perfect for a recreational player, their numbers are good, but maybe just a little too small for eastern players. Some ontario players always show up, but just a few
Sissy. 40 minutes max to Canmore
The one time I played in the BCPC I loved it so I'd agree there.
