Also, i took the week off starting june 13th to play there but will probably arrive in vegas on saturday. is anyone from here going to there around that time? and are there any awesome deals i can snatch now for flight + accom b/c i will be staying there for a bit, atleast from the 11th - 18th. i still might go a little early but not sure yet.

You need a non-expired casino employee ID - 13Cards and Blondefish can probably chime in since they've played in it about what they ask for specifically.

And if you're staying for a week, better off to play in on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday, that's typically when the flights will be cheaper. Friday/Saturday are the most expensive days to fly in

A little too early for deals, at least March/April at the earliest
  • thanks for the info. How long does registration last for? like late registration, b/c if i land on saturday after the 1k 12pm start im wondering if i would be able to make it in time? i assume late registration is available through the first 3 levels or after 1 hour of play? i've been to vegas before just not during wsop time so i assume that flights and hotels might be jacked up in prices? that in mind, what would the best time to start booking for hotel and air? and which hotel would be cheapest besides IP (did not like it one bit lol)
  • If you want to play a $1k event best to pre-register for that event, cause they will most likely sell out.

You have the first 4 hours (4 levels) to take your seat for all events, that you are asking about.

There is a good chunk of $1k to $2.5k events running from June 18th to 26th.

Flights are actually pretty cheap right now flying direct out of Toronto
  • Good questions, as this will be my first year going for the wsop as well. Only been waiting for like last 5 or 6 years haha. Ill prob be going somewhere around mid june for a week or so, and then hopefully back again for the main if I can satelite in.

Nope! Only degen, f*cked up, wahoo vampire-types who like never having weekends or holidays off and sleep all day and work all night. If you are not a card-carrying member of that club, you can't get in. Sorry!!

I didn't realize they had Republican only events.

I do not think that word means what you think it means . . .

    I resemble that remark!

Adds up pretty well perfectly to me :)
  • so i booked off 5 weekdays from work june 13-17. i plan on departing from toronto on the 11th so it gives me enough time to play in the saturday 1k event. i'm wondering if anyone from here is going to be there during that week? couple of my buddies might be coming down but not sure yet. it would be nice to discuss tourney play with grinders from here......for now it all depends how many events i play. obviously if i do well in one im set lol.....but seems like 3 for now....anyone else made up any plans to play in specific events during that stretch?
  • I know it is still pretty early in the year, but do others have an idea of when they are going down for WSOP this year? I am looking to book soon as well and am currently looking at June 16 - 23 or June 23 - June 30.

Between the 16 - 23, there are $1500 and a $2500 events spaced out nicely. I may just play one event and DSE/cash game the rest of the time.

If I go June 23 - June 30, then I have the long weekend to recover...
  • nice time to go....we'll def run into each other. i'll be there for the midweek 1500 event. i was in vegas last year but no where near the rio. im just wondering if i should just book into the rio this year or ceasars like last year? b/c to go back and forth might be a pain.
  • Just around the ME right now - might do a spontaneous trip down but that will be a last minute decision.

I guess it depends on how much time you plan to spend at the Rio versus hitting the strip and also playing in some of the DSE tournaments at Caesars, Venetian, etc....

I like being on the strip... For the past three WSOP trips, I have stayed at Caesars and will again this year (prior to that I stayed at IP). I like being right at that corner, almost the central part of the strip, where it is a two minute walk to the Bellagio and maybe a 10 - 12 minute walk the other way to the Venetian and Mirage. I think it was about a $6 cab ride from Caesars to Rio (I never bothered with the Shuttle...) and I would always tell the cabbie to take the back route and drop me off at the Rio's back WSOP entrance. It saves you a long walk through the Rio. It is a bit too far to walk from Caesars to Rio, especially in June and July!

The rooms are a bit pricier than other Harrahs locations, but if you book at the right time or have some offers on your Harrah's card, you can get a decent deal.
  • Don't stay at Rio unless you're some type of hermit.

Stay on the strip, obviously. Or something real close like Trump or w/e.

lol thanks for the info guys....i'll def be on the strip. i think ceasars would be best considering the proximity to where i normally play. anyone have deals for ceasars? i'm trying to look for them but nothing comes up. and i really want to avoid IP (even though its the cheapest option, i hate that place).....would it be possible to somehow bag a $30/night at ceasars?
  • Good call to stay on the strip. You won't find rooms at Caesars for $30/night, even the older "classic" rooms. Of the Harrah's properties in Vegas, they hold their room rates pretty firm. If you don't have any current offers, you might want to try Harrah's.

I am pretty set on June 16 - 23. If I am able to satellite into ME, then I will just head back around July 7.
  • Must you stay at a Harrah's property? You're not staying anywhere on the strip for $30 a night... even Excalibur ends up being more.
  • I think you should be staying at a harrah's property at least once. Then after that they send you all the discounted rates and comps.
