CPF series ANYONE?

I have mentioned this idea to several people and thought I would run it by everyone to see what you all think.

I think it's a great idea personally but is going to take some work and support of our community.

Start could be after the WSOP so say August - Oct.
Hosts: I am sure a lot of the people here who host games such as myself would be more than happy to host one or 2 of the events.

Games Limit and Pot limit Hold em 7 card stud
Omaha Hi / Low Hi Heads Up etc ,

The Main event could be titled PFC Hold-Em Championship .
It could be the the largest field of all if we can find the right place to hold it .
Buy Ins would be around the average of most games running now. 40-60
The Main event would be a higher buy in. probably 100 .

This is just a rough idea right now that could take form if there is enough support (Players for each event and Hosts)

Prizes. 1 person I talked 2 said you can get poker bracelets at a reasonable cost and award them along with the usual pay outs.
Bracelets could be bought in advance and whoever purchased them would be reimbursed .
Any Ideas ?

  • - Sounds like fun.

    - Sounds like a HELL of a lot of work.

    - Sounds like it'll be too spensive for most casual players.

    - Sounds like something that could be done much more effectively with Stars Home games.

    - Sounds like fun.
  • I see it do-able online, but it's going to be REALLY hard live.
  • +1 for the on-line version. Great idea HVEE . . .
  • Way to much work to do live... And where would we get a venue where we could get decent numbers.... Royal is already the event of the year.
  • Thought about on line. Not everyone plays on line though. Could be done.

Yes it may seem like a lot of work but now would be a good time to start lining up the ducks.

If the members who host Games and can manage 24 or more and would love to host an event that would take care of most. We could do a sign up on the threads with wait lists just as we have been doing.

The final ( Main Event ) I have some time to find the perfect or almost perfect venue.

I have no doubt that most people who host now would step up and host one of these events.
If we space them out far enough I am sure it will work.
Right now all I really want over the next couple of weeks is Ideas and to gauge Interest.
  • So this would be Royal like in that it would be multi disciplined but for individuals?
  • Some what. but more like the WSOP .
I am going to see how much I can get some poker bracelets for.
Try to co ordinate some dates and games eventually and find a place to hold the main event 60 or more.
We could also run some events on the home games too.
  • Yeah Ron, I don't wanna be a downer but this kinda does sound exactly like the Royal from what I understand. Plus way too much E for effort, IMO.

But, online, I think you're for sure on to something here: that way, you get the numbers and players from outside of the GTA can join in. You can still offer bracelets as prizes and Priority Post them out to folks. Hell, I'd even donate towards the cost of shipping, ESP if i won one :-)
  • I'm in if you can find a way to do it online, keep me posted
  • I'm in for live. Likely have to run it near Kitchener/Guelph area to get the most players to turn out.
  • If it were live I MIGHT make it out to one. If it were online, I could make it to a lot more....just my 2c

This.....I mean, it wouldn't really be a CPF series if it was live, as only the players in your region would be able to participate (albeit 90% of the forum are from that area).

Online, your player pool would be significantly higher obviously.

There are already enough things going on in Ontario that I don't get to join in on...

    Online would be A+ imo.

  • Sorry, been busy for last few days.

If this goes online we would do it through Poker Stars.
We would have to do it thru the private tourney section so more than 5o can play each event. They must be a member of PFC . I have found poker Bracelets at Sears and a couple of other places. I will post some pictures in the next couple of days along with the prices.

In order to cover the cost of each bracelet there will be an added charge on top of the buy in.
We can work this out prior to the start of the series. Various ways of shipping monies to whoever is in charge of ordering.

Anyone who wins a bracelet if they do not live in the General area would get the bracelet mailed via courier or parcel post.

Maybe between the spring version of the Royal and the WSOP.
We should get 4 or 5 people in on this to arrange everything , decide what games to play and the buy-ins.

5-20 $ for all but the main event should maybe be 40 or 50.
  • I don't know if anyone mentioned this but I think it would be more practical to do this online.
