  • Can't agree more - he drives me nuts!
  • He is entertaining to watch though, and its pretty funny when he flips out!
  • And for all his antics and the like, most people say he has an almost super natural ability to read players. He'll make lay-downs most could never imagine.

I think in the end the guy figured out that there is more money in endorsements and the like and plays and acts in a way that keeps selling books and dvds and the like

..and that's his downfall. He's forgotten that poker is gambling.
  • as much as i hate to admit, i feel his pain, there is nothing worse than getting called by a guy that has no logical reason to be in the hand and getting drawn out on, that's USUALLY what sets him off. Sometimes he gets outplayed (e.g. Tournament of Champions heads up vs. Annie Duke) and complains alot, but mostly its when he gets drawn out on by a poor player.
  • I just caught the last three hands of him against Aniie Duke - no doubt about it Phil is a clown. You have to have class in victory and also in defeat! He has neither.

One of my new life dreams would be to bust that clown out of the WSOP with a marginal hand. I would hope to have a huge chip lead and be able to afford to call him with that marginal hand just to watch him explode.

Damn - there I go again making poker personal - will I ever learn!
  • put all the whiners and cry babies together and let them at each other

    LOL
  • i want to pop that huge mole on his face!
  • If I ever won the lottery (guess I'll have to buy a ticket), I'd follow Phil around to every tournament he entered and offer a $20,000 bounty to whoever knocked him out.... just imagine... every hand he'd play... someone moving all in against him... He'd go nuts!!!!
  • I want him to lose whenever he plays but he is still entertaining to watch and a good player as well.
  • it doesnt matter what he does or says because he is the best player of all time and he knows it. you can say otherwise, but he has the records to back it up.
  • Best player or not - he still does not have to act that way! You don't see Daniel doing that crap. It really makes me wonder if Phil has respect for the game? He sure does not have respect for other players - which I believe relates to having respect for the game!

I ain't going to justify his actions ... but lets be honest. If you had just played in the Tournament of Champions and lost heads up, with first place being $2,000,000 and second place being worth ZERO. Maybe you would say nice tourney and then drive home, Likely destroy your living room and go into a huge bing that would involve all the scotch in scotland and all the cocoaine in columbia.

I think he showed publically the exact emotion we would have all felt inside. he just doesn't bottle it up, instead he lets it loose. While i haven't seen it recently i mainly recall it being him yelling profanities and otherwise just being pissed off. now if he had been yelling profanities about her callling her various female related profanities, that would have been period unacceptable.
  • i would feel tempted to throw my chips at his blabbling mouth so that he can have an opportunity to shut up

As you said, we all feel that way. The difference is we don't berate people on international TV. I think the point was correctly made that his character is worth more than the gambling winnings.

As long as he continues to be a top player he can be as big a jerk as he wishes. Kinda Barry Bonds-ish.

He's my favorite player. Usually when he busts he has the best of it and someone draws out on him. He'a great talent and his rants are very enteraining. Hellmuth rocks.
