  • I think this is bvb and if villain is close to competent Im getting it in.

I would do a quick OPR of villain, not to see if hes a winner/loser, but to see if he plays a lot. If so I call.
  • - 3 bet small preflop; esp w/ position
    - decide what you're going to do vs 4 bet before you 3 bet
    - as played call

  • Usually I make this call but i've been bubbling quite a bit lately and wondering if i'm missing some value by not applying any ICM calculations.

I laid it down, also partly due to the ease that i've been picking off chips from other players. The sick thing is the very next hand.

What do you make your 3bets in position in this spot?
  • I think regardless of what you do he is calling with Big Slick. Wants to see the flop.
Maybe toss out 3500 this way you are not crippled. If he calls then He may check raise you after the flop which will bring up the spidey senses .especially with the ACE popping up.
Its a clean hand if the flop is all rags and there is no st8 draw. Lately I have been weary of this hand and this happening. Just shell shock I guess.
  • Your 3 bet sizing is backwards. The hand you have position on, you 3-bet 3x his open. The hand you are oop, you 2.5x his button open. If anything, it should be opposite. I would probably just 3 bet to about 4850...and go from there...but never plan on folding preflop.

Also, the way he plays the second hand suggests to me that you were way ahead of his shoving range. I doubt he's 4-bet shoving AA/KK/QQ/AK in hand 1 if he's 4 betting tiny on hand 2 w/ AKo.

As for the bubble play - I don't like how you're taking ICM into consideration for this spot. You and your opponent are relative big stacks. ICM should NOT dominate your decision in this case. Although ICM says if you double up this hand, you don't double your equity, it does change makes a significant difference as you would have a huge chip stack w/ position on the other big stack. Winning this hand gives you a legitimate shot at final tabling and a top 3 finish - worth the risk of busting.

If the situation was different and you only had say 4 bbs on the exact money bubble with AQo and he shoved, ICM wise it's correct to fold the hand...even though you know you're ahead - cause the 25-33% of the time you bust with nothing, but doubling doesn't change your situation very much.

Back to your original hand in question - raise-folding AQo seems like a big mistake. If you're not felting this preflop, you basically turned AQo into a bluff. It would have been better to 3-bet 72o here.

The way I see it, there's a whole bunch of hands that you can be ahead of and dominating vs his value range. Eg. A9s+, A10o+, KJs+, KQo. That's a lot more than the times he holds QQ+, AK....and you do have blockers.

IDK myself, but your 3 bets look ok to me.:)
  • I am in pos this hand, i'm in the BB he's in the SB. Before this hand were 3rd and 4th in chips so that had me questioning what kind of range he would reshove with vs what he would just call with and what he would fold.

i can't help but think aq is surely behind opp ranges which would be aqo+, and 22+ at the least and likely a little tighter. my thought would be to flat and play in position. 40bbs seems too much to call a shove.
