Post hand historys in the mtt section before you quit
My live game , Tourney and cash have been nothing short of a disaster.
I am seriously thinking about dropping out of the live for a while.
I am just so frustrated with the run of BAD LUCK and now it's really starting to take it's toll. A lot of hands today i was pretty sure i was ahead until the bend over card came.
Not really superstitious but. I was moving boxes from the basement of our house over to the new place. The wife packed but did not tape the bottoms only folded the flaps. Like you would a case of empty beer bottles to keep the lid closed. 1 box I picked up and the bottom fell out. Inside that box was my accordion style shaving mirror. SMASH. One side broken . 7 Yrs bad luck .
i may have to quit until 2017. lol
i was more hoping youd could post more to help my game ^-^
nice
First off, last night was not what I would call a 'serious' night of poker, especially the cash game. Games at my house are meant to be fairly loose and social. (Thus why they are so cheap) When I open up my house to friends and strangers, I'd prefer to have a fun night.
Ron, yes you did have some shitty luck last night, but I saw a few holes in your game.
The hand where I spiked a set on the turn after you flopped TP was fairly typical I think. You raised PF to $3.50 (I think) got 3-4 callers, then led out with $2.50 on the flop?! On the turn you bet $2.50 again, and I raised you $10. As soon as you called I knew you would put the rest of your stack in.
Your PF bet was an overbet the invites gambling players into the pot. Your flop bet was WAY WAY WAY to small! I called assuming I had implied odds (of course everybody folded!) and got stupid lucky to hit my 2 outer. However you promptly married you TP and basically gave away your stack.
I think your fundamental issue is that you don't change your play between different game settings. Your play might work at a nitty 1/2 NL game in a casino, but in a micro game where most people are drinking/having fun, you should change your style of play.
Maybe I'm wrong. Flame away.
sounds like a fair statement. Let the chasers get there.
if I had shoved on that hand were you spiked you would have called anyway.
Same thing happened during the tourney.
Tonight I flopped a Boat . Kings over Aces. Shoved my stack, Got called. the bastard hit a Royal flush on the River.
From what I remember of that hand, the flop was something like Q-T-2
You push on that flop, or even make a decent sized bet, there's 0% chance Johnnie's calling with 44 there.
Pre-flop? Maybe he calls if feeling frisky, but I don't remember what you had behind you.
You raised pre-flop, got called, bet a flop, got called, and then proceeded to continue throwing your money in with only TPTK... Again, I didn't pay much attention to the stack sizes, but you bled in that hand.
Sounds like you need a break from poker IMO - take a month, read some books or something.
Just to put things in perspective (again) for everyone - math doesn't get gut feelings, it doesn't believe in luck, and it's not out to get you.
After you left Hvee, mini-moose bought back into the cash game with the $10 of tips he'd earned, and in the space of 5 hands ran it up to $120+ (yes yes, twice doubling through me).
I just did a quick little calculation here, and on FTP right now, the RUSH poker tables are averaging 233.33 hands / hour on each game (all games, Micro-Medium level). The average number of players is 341.4 (about 38 tables, but I didn't account for the 6 max games, which there are 8 / 15 of, so let's adjust to say, 25 tables).
So, a one outer on the river hits 2% of the time, 2% of 233.33 is 4.66. This is the "worst beat in poker", and it's happening nearly 5 times an hour, that's once every 12 minutes. Oh, and that's only in ONE game! There are 15 games being played! That means just using Rush poker, and the 5121 players (btw, 81,281 online overall, or 6.3%) of the people on FTP right now, are generating a one outer on the river every damned minute. Well, provided the scenario is available that is.
One of my favorite thoughts I've had lately is about the phrase "You're one in a million!". If there's 7 Billion people on the planet now, there's 7000 of you one in a million people.... seems significantly less impressive.
Mark
ARE YOU FRIGGEN KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW MANY TIMES DID YOUR AK BUST EVERY POCKET PAIR I HAD IN 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know you're just blowing off steam. We've all been there. My last run of bad luck lasted 18 months. I went to Vegas in the fall thinking about quitting if the trip didn't go well, and everything turned around. I didn't care about getting sucked out, as I was on vacation. Suddenly my luck turned for the better, which gave me my confidence back, which helped my reads and patience. I knew I had turned a corner with my game, and I rediscovered that poker is almost always fun, with a few non-fun spots in between. You seem to think it's the opposite.
Do you remember a hand from Bristol back in the summer when Mark had Jacks and beat my Aces? You said "I knew the Jack was coming." Seems to me that your negative outlook is effecting your gameplay, which is effecting your confidence and enjoyment of the game.
I think you need a break from poker for a few weeks. Take time off and forget about the game. When you start to feel the itch again, pick up a book and read it like you've never played before. You'll be amazed how differently you approach the game. You'll find holes in your game and see mistakes others make.
Oh, and Mark is right. NO way I'm calling a shove with 44 with two face cards on the board
Great deal of truth with little being said.

You are the only one I will push with because I never believe you have much. I didn't play with you a lot this year so I didn't race with you very often. I hope to make up for that in 2011.
I enjoy matching wits with you Dave, your tournaments are with the drive on my one weekend of per month.

I don't think I am playing bad Wetts. Considering about 90 % of the time I am way ahead when I make a play for a pot.
Every time I turn around lately the river has been cruel.
I really am on a downswing like I have never experienced.
Most hands I played at johnnies were lost on the river.
Ive played enough non-high stake poker, you need to get it in with the best hand, hope for the best, if you try to trap or slow play monsters, more often than not the gamblers will just crush you when their cards come in
