HUD Software.

So I am looking at some hud software that I can use on P*'s and Tiltawhirl lol.
Any suggestions.
I have looked at Poker Edge 5 Poker Tracker and Poker Mate. so far .
anything around 100 bucks or less that will work on both sites without any bull shit. prefer something with a free trial period of 5 days or so.
I just want to try a couple of them out for a few days and then I will decide which one I like best.

  • id suggest poker tracker or hold manage because they are the most popular it seems and you'd get the most help and tutorials with them i think....they were tricky to set up, but once get one running they are gravy!
  • I have used pokertracker and holdem manager.
I prefer holdem manager because their interface is much cleaner and easier to look at your own progress. But the HUD looks the same.
  • I use PT3. I tried both HM and PT3 free trials and I found it easier to get PT3 up and running. For whatever reason I never could get HM to upload HHs so the week trial was a waste.

Also, I have heard through the grapevine that you need not purchase the program. Aparently you can delete a file on your computer and you can use the trial forever... But I am completely computer illiterate.

Now i just have to figure out WTF it's trying to tell me. lol
  • Well if you are talking about free. I just torrented Holdem manager for the younger cats.

Here's what someone needed to tell me, everything is automatic but if you have issues this breakdown will help....2a was the confusing part for me

    1. download

    2. start install
2a. install/create database-this is were pt3 will store all the data
it collects (or something like that)

    3. make sure you poker client (eg poker stars) saves your hand histories to a folder. (i think yours does cause you posted one once.)

    4. Tell pt3 which folder your hand histories are in

heres the guide if you don't have it but its kinda complex....

  • anyone tried poker-edge? i had that for the free trial a while ago, it was more of a stat tracker though

Thanks Darb. yes it is now saving my hand histories. I did not have it saved but just had hands from various tourneys emailed to me to look over.
Plus I am keeping notes on players I have come across several times in the last few weeks.

  • If you play at PartyPoker, the latest version of PokerTracker is supposedly free.
Party Poker Players Can Now Get PokerTracker 3.08 For Free

Note that Poker Edge and Poker Mate are prohibited by sites such as PokerStars.

  • Just downloaded the trial version of PT3 today. Oh...my....god the amount of information this thing gives you is absolutely overwhelming and I haven't even tried the HUD in a game yet.

I think I'm going to have to check out some of the tutorials mentioned above later on today once I give my brain a little rinse from the massive amounts of stats I just tried to comprehend.
  • ccleaner will reset the trail period if it expires

Now how does it do that? To my knowledge all ccleaner does is removes files cluttering up Windows, cookies, temp files, etc. Do you have any first hand knowledge or is this just something you've heard?
The thing about the trial version is that it doesn't allow you to import or use your existing hand history databases. That really doesn't allow a proper evaluation imo.
  • I haven't yet but I am leaning toward tournament indicator. I found PT3 really slowed down my computer. Lots of info and gives you your pot odds and winning pct each hand.

For sure you need reasonable power for PT3, I don't know your computer but my guess is more ram would make a significant difference. I'm looking more for info on other players rather than pot odds and winning %, I can pretty quickly figure that out myself.
Let me know if you would like me to have a look at your pc and it's performance remotely. Usually I can pinpoint exactly what the issues are.

Maybe 1 day later this week comp. I think it has a lot to do with age. We have had this 5 yrs now. Thinking about buying a new lap top to sit on the desk.
  • Comp, I've allowed you to look into the nooks and crannies of this old beast of a pc I'm running before... With much appreciation by the way!

    Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ @2200 Mhz.
    Physical Ram: 2048 Mb (4X512Mb DDR-SDRAM)
@0%; CPU usage: approx 1.5Mb physical ram available.

Haven't tried the HUD yet, not sure if this is going to eat my machine alive. May have to invest in more ram.

still running ok? I'm betting that HVEE's is having the same issues as yours was. Ron, would be glad to have a look at it from here. I can do it this evening...
  • Absolutely running ok Comp. Not a problem. Last time was a virus problem that you fixed. I'm just not sure if I've got the RAM resources to run PT3 if it's going to be a memory hog.

Will be trying it later tonight in the forum game. Have no clue how to get this thing going concurrent to the P* client. Making oxtail soup today, so haven't had a chance to take the thing for a proper run yet.
  • Cannot WAIT to see what your HUD says about me . . .
should be good for a laugh.
