Pushing Small Edges

Just wondering...is there every a time when you have (or maybe you should have) thought about pushing small edges (meaning the small favourite hands 51%-49% and better) because there is little chance you can outplay your opponent(s) in any future hands? Here is my thought process here (this is strictly related to tourney play as in ring games you should leave the table as soon as you realize you are being outplayed)...I can happily admit I am far from the best (lol) player in the world ... so that means I end up playing against superior opponent. If I think that I am going to be outplayed on future hands does it make sense to push harder with the small edges?

On the same line if your just off your game and playing against players who are taking advantage of that does it make sense to push harder than normal?

  • I could be totally out to lunch but it always seemed to me the small edges favour the better players over the course of the tourney. So if you feel the players at your table in a tourney are far better than you post-flop, you are better to push your chips in when you feel you have the best hand and then only the cards can beat you, not the player.

    What do you think?
  • That's what I'm getting at...but is something you should take into consideration? Or should you continue to try and out play everyone?
