Hi All! My name is Jenn, I'm new to the forum. I've been playing online Texas Hold'em Poker for a couple of years now and I enjoy watching the pro's play on tv. I mostly play at Ultimate Bet, only because I won a trip through them before. I'm an undergrad student at the University of New Brunswick in Canada and I'm lucky enough to get do researchon online poker. It's pretty cool that I'm able to do research on something I'm interested in. Keep an eye out for me because I will be looking for high earning players to participate in my study! Oh and you'll have good chances of winning $$$. See you all around! smile.gif

    Sorry to disappoint you. There is, however, a need for average poker players in research, so your time will come!
    My study is geared more toward players who either make a living or supplement their income with their online poker winnings.

    No worries, Al. I have never wanted to be average, and I did okay at the WSPC cash game.

    I am disappointed in the spelling/grammar ability possessed by the average post-secondary student, these days.

    Queenie, you need to learn when you're supposed to use the word your, and when you're not.

    It usually is, seems like a lot of people do 'research' on poker players no days, why is that?

    I readily admit that I'm not an expert in this field of research. I'm working under a professor who specializes in gambling research. I would say the rise in research pertaining to online poker players is mainly due to the worldwide expansion in online poker playing in recent years. And, of course, researchers are always looking for new things to study and new questions to ask. As well, poker is interesting because poker players differ greatly from other types of gamblers due to the huge skill component.

    I am guessing there are a lot of research going on about poker players for a lot of reasons.

    A lot of the provinces are thinking about releasing their own poker website to generate revenue, but they need sufficient studies on the socio and economic impact. I am also thinking that revenue Canada would be interested in some of these studies as well. Legalization of poker in the US. I think some of the big companies will pay some researchers to flub some numbers and stats. Lots and lots of interest.

    Welcome Jen to the boards. I think everyone is just treating you bad because of a combination of things that maybe cause for concern and question your authenticity.
