I did it last night! (not that exciting)
Too often we admire aggression, but forget that the key ingredient for aggression is folding. I think I remember All_aces in the CPT article mentions folding as one of the keys to becomming a winning player. For me it was a quantum leap, moving me from break even to a very positive player.
For me there is no better measure of when I'm on my game than when I can fold aces. I remember my first time. I folded aces and the bugger showed the bluff. It sent me on tilt. But now I look forward to properly folding aces.
Last night in the $10 stars 10:15 rebuy. We're in the second hour and I think at the 100/200 limit. I get aces UTG and limp. There's usually alot of aggression at this point, and aces UTG are great for a nice trap. Well UTG+1 limps, as does the button, and sb completes. Four of us see the flop 853, two clubs and I don't have one. I don't like this, but hey I gotta play. So, I bet 600 into a 1000 pot. UTG+1 raises to 2000 and the button smooth calls. SB & BB fold.
With an 8000 avg. stack, I really can't afford to play in a pot where I need to risk my entire stack against a flush draw. And, I'm confident one of the players has me beat already with two pair (yes they do play 85s) or a set. Actually, I didn't even care if one of them had me beat. I just didn't want to be in a pot with all the drawing possibilities. It was an easy decision which didn't even require extra time.
Well, UTG+1 goes all-in at the turn when the third club hit and the button calls. UTG shows the set with presto and the button shows the nut flush. The button wins the pot.
I went on to place 43. Not bad.

Congrats on your finish magithighs, although I can relate to the pain of making it that deep and not scoring big-time. I think I got 11th last time I played a 10:15, so it's a double whammy for me.
Nice laydown of your aces. If you're going to limp with them in EP (and it's a good play sometimes) you have to have enough faith in your own abilities to acknowledge that you may have to let them go. Good for you for not going broke on that hand.
Maybe we will redeem ourselves in Woodbridge tonight.

I was watching the one play you made with KQ in the SB when the blinds were something like 1000/2000. I was thinking, what the heck are you doing smooth calling the pre-flop raise, flop bet and turn bet. I knew you wouldn't do that unless you figured you were way ahead.
I seem like I'm on a crusade these days against showing. Personally, I wouldn't have shown your hand. But nice play!!

Apparently they are editing all of them (I believe there are a total of 12 different DVD's), and are going to call me in at the end of this month to have a look at a finished product for my feedback. I'll let you know when I hear anything concrete, as it will be an excuse to relentlessly plug my product. ;-)
