How to begin a session - Part 1..
Barry Tanenbaum lists some things to do ("alwayses")when starting a session...he only goes into detail (in this column) about the first couple...but...number 6 is interesting...will be looking for his reasoning...
1. Don't play right away
2. Look for negative inferences
3. Assess each player's current state of mind
4. Determine your table position
5. Take fewer chances
6. At no-limit, buy in for the minimum
7. If possible, establish a positive image
8. Decide which players to exploit and which to avoid.

Also, if you're buying in for the minimum, isn't #8 kind of redundant, as you are attempting to exploit the table as a whole when you shove?

I find this kinda interesting
Buy in for the minimum. This will make the game a, "My starting hand selection is better than yours!" game.
If you are better than your opponents postflop... Buy in for the most you can!
