Aq ?

I seem to run into this all the time and it always breaks me and puts me on tilt..
I am the chip leader in an 18 man 5.50 with 6300, I get AQcc on the button and raise it to 600 (blinds are 100/200) the BB is the only caller and the flop comes Axx rainbow, there is 1500 in the pot and the BB has 2400 behind him, I bet out 900 and he pushes all in..

I honestly think he could have AK but his range could be anything as low as A9.. I know it's situational but what is the right play here?

In the end I call, he has AK and I blow my chiplead, continue to get mad and play terribly (not because I think it is a suckout but because of how I misplayed it and continue to misplay this hand in this situation) donking off the rest of my chips and effectively my buyin.

  • cant get out of that one
    nh bb
  • That's it??
  • There's a reason it's known as the Mike Tyson hand (looks strong but gets beat a lot). You've recognized it as a leak, which it seems to be for a lot of players, myself included. I wouldn't call that play a terrible one, unless you had a soul read on the guy.
  • This is one of the most standard hands in poker, if you do anything but get it all in here id say your bad lol. Ak shouldve shoved pre flop first off so I dont see how you can think he has AK. Even though he did, thats just bad play by him. Either way no need to steam, its standard, and poker is full of these standard hands. If you cant handle this type of hand and you end up steaming because of it, you probably shouldnt be playing poker, cause you will continue to lose money.
  • +1 ^^^ This for sure... very standard, no real reason to discuss....

I don't usually have an issue with steaming, I just find I get stuck in this situation a lot and figured it must be something I am doing wrong or I wouldn't continually lose money with AQ.
  • no, you did it right, its just part of poker. These hands are gonna happen and you just have to accept it for what it is, a cooler.
  • standard...it really should have been all in preflop anyhow
  • AQ use to be my favorite hand, now not so much:-\.

But ya you can't get away on that flop.
