  • Hi Everyone,

I’m conducting the above study which aims to gather descriptive information about poker players. I’m particularly interested in examining poker players who participate in online poker forums such as pokerforum.ca.

If you would like more details about the study not contained in the informed consent page before you choose to participate, or if you have any questions or comments about the study, you may contact me at will.shead@msvu.ca. Alternatively you can post your comments in this thread and I will respond to them as soon as possible.

A summary of the final data will be posted in this thread at the conclusion of the study. Thank you in advance for your participation and contributions to this study. I believe the findings will provide new and valuable insights into poker players.

    Regards,

    Will
  • ya id like to see the results...will i participate.....hmmmm.......might....
  • +1. I'll probably do the survey, even if it is just to take a gander at the questions. If it is anything like the last one that showed up here, the questions will be worded so that, no matter how they are answered, the person(s) compiling the response will be able to interpret them however they choose to.

In short, gambling is bad, mmmmmmmkay?
    Gamblers have psychological problems.
Governments should give more tax $$$ to study said problem.

we could use the money we generate off government run gambling sites....
  • Governments should NOT be running gambling sites, nor casinos for that matter. Tax the crap out of them, like they do booze and ciggies, but run them? NO WAY.

i guess then the tax money generated from cigarettes and booze goes to funding cancer and rehab programs.
  • Pretty sure a portion of it does . . .

My point is that people should be allowed the freedom to make their own decisions, even if those decisons prove to be self-destructive.
Government's role should be as a framer and regulator, not an operator. Government, ideally, should be as minimally intrusive on an individual's day to day existence as possible.

The problem you get with government intrusion into gaming, or ciggies for that matter, is that the government becomes the biggest addict. Look at lotteries. Every change you see the OLG make is designed to increase the OLG's take, while reducing the payouts to the customers.
  • Was pretty straight forward, filled it out. Very well explained and done. Curious to see what the final results are, looks they have this posted in enough places to get some numbers.
  • Thanks for your participation everyone. Much appreciated. I'll definitely post a summary of the results in this thread when I've conducted a preliminary analysis of the data (probably around mid-October).
