What non Stars/FTP/Ceres sites have decent mtt schedules?

Looking for a few sites to allow for a half decent $10-$50 MTT schedule between 10pm-3/4am MST (10pm-5am for everyone in Ont).

I usually don't have the time to commit to the large fields on Stars so am looking for some 100-300 player fields but would like to be able to play 6-8 MTTs at a time and have a few extra games to choose from when I bust early.

I assume I will need 3-4 smaller sites to fill up a schedule. Suggestions?

I know u dont wanna hear this, but honestly UB is the best given the criteria above.
  • What about any of the following:

    Betfair
    Carbon
    NoIq
    Cake
    Ladbrokes?

    Anything going on there?

How is Party's MTT schedule during those hours?

Realistically, my playing may be more like 12am - 5am your time.
  • What stakes?
  • $10-$50 -- likely mostly 20s and 30s to start off.
  • Let me check for ya
  • Ongame and Ipoker look like they have next to nothing at these hours. Party poker looks like it has 4-5 but all the fields have <70 runners, some ~35 I think, so almost SNGs. In general euro sites won't have anything much after 7PM EST, but have great schedules from 12PM-3PM or so.

I don't play on carbon/cake/bodog, so you'd have to get someone else to check those, but I imagine one of those might be your best bet.
  • Why not play the Stars 180? I guess they do tend to take awhile to fill up and they're turbo.
  • I really like guaranteed tourneys on Cake (or any skin on their network, the best being Doyles Room) during those hours. I'll often register late and just play shove or fold, but they have decent $10-30 buy-in stuff with guarantees, a lot of overlays and awful opponents.

Carbon, or any skin on the Merge network, is also a decent option, though I'm not familiar with their tourney schedule. From what I've heard it's all over the place, but doesn't lack for selection. Because they both cater to the US market, you'll find a good selection without having Stars size fields.

Boss Media skins (dead to Canadians now anyways), iPoker, Ongame, Entraction (NoIQ), Microgaming (Ladsbrokes), and pretty much any other network that bans US players are pretty much dead during those hours, because they cater primarily to the European evening.

To find a good selection of Cake and Merge skins, you can refer to pokerscout.com, which lists pretty much all known online poker sites, which networks they're on, and their relative traffic (though this is somewhat inaccurate). I use it quite a lot when doing my online poker promotional work.

    Hope that helps,
    Aaron

Been playing on Party a little earlier (ie. 6pm - 11pm MST)....there's a couple guarentee's that sometimes have overlays. And the field is 'oh so soft'. (I'm +ROI in holdem....I know, it's crazy)

Field sizes probably a little smaller than one would like, but you don't have to play for 8 hours to win either.
  • I like the $11 FTP $20k midnight madness tourney. You can register just before registration closes at 1 am and half the field is gone already. Another hour of play and you are ITM since it has a flat payout structure paying 306 places minimum. Quite often it has an overlay.

For a smaller field there is the midnight $23k KO but it has a $75 buyin. It also pays a min of 45 places.

On Stars there is the 11 pm EST $109 2xchance turbo $35k. The prize pool really gets boosted by the morons who rebuy. Again same thing, after the registration closes it is 1 hour to ITM. If the buyin is too high you can do the 6 max hyper turbo sngs that pay 2 seats and money back to 3rd place. I think the buyin is $44.
  • Just a warning about Carbon:
I think they are based in africa or something. I tried to cash out a few hundred one time. IT took about 3.5 weeks for the check to reach me. Got sent back at customs once. I don't think they use instadebit, nor would I trust that company in particular to have my bank account info.

Also, the interface SUCKS. MTTs there, say if 9 places paid, they play hand for hand at 20 people. It's pretty ridiculous, makes tournies take forever. The options are also few and far between, mostly europeans on there so maybe given those times it may or not be good.
  • Thanks for that syph,

I wasn't aware of the hand for hand thing. That sucks.

Carbon is based out of Australia and cashouts to the US market were traditionally an issue, though I think they've mostly been resolved now. I've had no issues cashing out to Moneybookers for what it's worth.

Actually, I just got an e-mail saying they'll be adding daily $6k and $7k guarantees, probably with overlays for the first month or two, but not sure the schedule yet. May not fit OP's schedule.
  • Avoid Ladbrokes like the plague. They ding you on exchange when you buyin AND when you cash. And it's not an insignificant amount.

I also quit Bwin (Ongame) for this reason. I had an account with Mansion which used to be on Ongame and it automatically switched to Bwin and put my account in Euro. I asked for it to be changed twice and they said no. So I was being severely dinged on exchange there. So fuck them, I quit and I highly recommend to avoid both of these places.

Hmm, try a different skin, I don't have this problem with Hollywood, although I believe I changed my currency before I depositted.
  • Hey Ryan,

We played against each other on Everest during the Live the Dream stuff last year. I remember you TID and won the nice trip to Vienna. I finished 2nd in one your weren't in and crashed out in 4th in the one you won. I'm ShanghaiLad on Everest.

I've played almost entirely on Euro sites for the past 3-4 years and rarely had that problem, though I've never dealt with Ladbrokes (Microgaming?). What I found was that most sites actually have a single conversion rate which they update every 24 hours. That goes for Ongame, iPoker, Boss, Everleaf, and the old Cryptologic (doubt they're still around). So for me, the buy-in and cash out convertion was always the same, but they rounded the decimals in their favour so I'd lose $0.01 on about 50% of my table sessions.

Where they really get you though is transferring money on and off the sites, especially if your eWallet is different from the currency used on the site. I had a Moneybookers account set to USD and a TD USD bank account that I use for withdrawals from MB, so I've gotten away without having to pay any exchange fees. :) They also get you with the 3 euro rake, instead of a $3 rake.

For sites that force me to use Euros, I was using a Neteller account set to Euros (couldn't do that from Canada though) to fund the accounts.

Some of the iPoker/Ongame skins I played on had a weird system though, where you fund the "account" and then move money around from account to poker (or casino/sportsbetting, if that's your thing), with the account in Euros and the poker room in USD. At the sites doing this, they were again using a 24 hour exchange rate, so I'd keep an eye on the exchange rates (Oanda or XE are good for that) and move money back and forth when the rates were favourable.

If you're a decent Forex trader, you can actually do quite well manipulating these setups. If you're like me, you move your USD to EUR right before the EUR collapses and loose 3-5% of your bankroll. :(

Anyways, this was way off topic, as in Mountain time, Euro sites are pretty much dead anyways. That's why I suggested the Merge or Cake networks.

    /thread hijack

EDIT - I think Mansion's moved to iPoker now. bwin = Ongame, though it will soon = Party Poker when they merge in the next few months.
