$25 and $100, easy to stand on edge...love the edgespots on the $100
Pharaohs011.jpg
$500 was easy to stand, $1000 took some persuading though, but I do like the colours on the $1000
Pharaohs012.jpg
$5000 easy to stand on edge, all chips very sharp and crisp edged

I haven't had a chance to examine every chip yet. I have read about some minor label problems (off center) and some chipping during shipping. Also, apparently the $100 chip is fairly easy to break, but I'm not going to attempt it on purpose.

Still, for $.32US a chip this is a supreme value! They're not Paulson, but you wouldn't know it by weight, feel, sight, or sound. They clack like a high dollar chip and they don't feel waxy or appear too chalky either. Glad I made the buy and that its still going on.

Now I have my cash set complete (Aztar's) and my T10000/T20000 set is complete. May add as necessary in the future to both, but I'm very pleased with my collection so far.

Next purchase...waiting for the Black Friday Sale and getting something for the weekly league game tournaments. That will just about do it for me I think.

Who am I kidding?? I'm friggin hooked!! >:D

  • Whatever that extra chip is, it's amazing.

And I'm the same way with my Mr. Potato Head collection. I always think the next one is the last one. Never happens.
  • Want to buy some but can't find them in the store on that site??

Roughly how long did it take you to get yours from when you ordered them?
  • I love my pharoahs! I have to stop myself from buying more all the time as I just have a small cash set!

Just under two weeks. They had shipped within a day, but spent a solid week in customs. Usually it doesn't take that long to clear though.
  • Luckily for me I get paid 3 times this month so I can justify buying some. Now I just gotta decide how many and what denominations to order.

I usually host sng type games with anywhere from 8-18 guys and we usually start off with 1000-1500 chips depending on what we feel like. Any formats you suggest? I also occasionally will play with 8 or so guys a cash game with 0.25/0.50 or 0.50/1 . Was looking at buying 750/1000 chips...any suggestions?
  • 1000 chips is WAY too many for that number of players.

For your structure, say a T1500 tournament, your blinds will likely start at 5/10 I assume? Much like the structure for my Thursday games.

Therefore, based on that assumption, you will likely need the following

    150 5 chip value
    150 25 chip value
    120 100 chip value
    50 500 chip value

That's 470 chips. Buy more 5 and 25 chips, but don't spend money on more 500 or 1000 chips, you'll never use them all with your format. Each player will start with
    $5 chip 10 each
    $25 chip 10 each
    $100 chip 7 each
    $500 chip 1 each
Total stack for each player $1500 with 28 chips. If you want to run a T5000 or bigger stack game, this set will NOT be enough though.

For cash games, at the limits you're playing, I would suggest a separate set of chips. You don't want to use the same chip for both tournament and cash, it gets confusing, and could lead to issues with players pocketing chips from a tournament to play in a cash game later.

For a cash game set, look at the Presidents series of chip. They're more money, but an excellent chip.
NEW PRESIDENT PAULSON - SUPER SATURDAY - official thread
Hopefully, they haven't run out, this was a HUGE sale on ChipTalk.

It doesn't come with a $.25 chip, but you can find something to fit the set easy enough. For your limits, I would get at least 400 chips for cash, following breakdown

    $.50 125
    $1 125
    $5 100
    $25 50
Even then, 50 $25 chips will be too many, so reduce that number and get more $.50 and $1 chips instead. Quarters are going to take you some time to find though, so be prepared to hunt for them on Ebay and ChipTalk. When you find them, get about 50 or 100 of them to round out your set. This set should handle any limit from .25/.25 to 2/5 games depending on the number of players you have regularily.

The price and the fact that the Pharaohs have 0.25 chips is what made me want to get them. I have looked at the Presidents before and even was bidding on these (though they're not ideal, it's not a bad price) 500 The Club Casino CHIPCO chip set with Paulson cards on eBay.ca (item 330470785096 end time 17-Sep-10 00:00:38 EDT)

I don't worry about anyone at my games stealing chips for the cash game, we play with a small circle of friends and rarely play ring, but I would like to have two sets. So if I am playing with sometimes up to 18-20 guys you would suggest getting roughly 550-600 chips? How long do your games usually take with how many guys?

I meant 1000-1500 in stack not that we use that many chips. I thnk we usually use from a 500 chip set and leave a lot out.

What was the shipping cost like on your order?

edit: forgot to add that my cash games we would use only 0.25,0.50,$1.00 chips so there is none that would carry over.

If that's the case, then you won't have any issues. If you ever want to host larger games though, and offer seats to strangers, I would recommend two separate sets

The set I posted above is about 750pc, and will easily accomodate T10,000 to T20,000 starting stacks for up to 24players. You can use that for a guideline. There's no way I'll use all the 5000 chips in one game, but I wanted them anyway if I wanted to expand the games I host. Total cost of the set above was about $270US+shipping+HST.

That's what I thought as well. My Thursday night games have a starting stack of 1500, with a slightly different chip breakdown, but the one I outlined above will work just as well for you.
    JtotheLew wrote: »

Shipping was $41.95US. Taxes paid at the door upon delivery of about $36Can.

I bought samples of each chip, so my total order was for 759 chips for a grand total of $284.83US (including shipping) plus $36Can in taxes upon delivery. About $350 to $360 total Canadian.
  • The format you outlined was for T1500 no? Or do you mean that the total number of starting chips would be T10,000 or T20,000 ? I'm confused, lol.

Nevermind, just realised you were talking about the photos.

The format I bought my chips for was for T10,000 to T20,000

The format I outlined for YOU is for T1500

The next set I purchase will be for my T1500 weekly tournament. It will NOT be Pharaoh's, as I want something special for this game, but I'll wait for the Black Friday sale in November to get anything more.
  • You don't find with that T1500 format you gave me that you are making change often? What is your blind structure usually like and how long does it usually go?

I wanted to try something like this... each person starts with..

    15x5
    13x25
    6x100
    1x500
    ______
    1500 = 35 x 10 = 350 for 10 people
    x 20 = 700 for 20 people

    Blind structure goes :
First 4 levels 15 minutes, after that 20 mins. Should end up being about 2-4 hr game knowing my friends.

    Level Small Big
    1 10 20
    2 15 30
    3 20 40
    4 25 50
    5 50 100
    6 75 150
    7 100 200
    8 150 300
    9 200 400
    10 300 600
    11 400 800
    12 500 1000
    13 600 1200
    14 800 1600

Thoughts? ps. sorry for hijacking your chip pron thread to ask you countless questions, lol, and thank you for answering.
  • In MY game...no, making change isn't a big deal.

Most of the donks bust out before colour up anyway :D
  • Reveiwing your structure, you're blinds early on are based on a lot of increments of 5, hence why you need to make change so often. So is mine, actually...and making change is still necessary, but liveable. I don't have a 15/30 level like you do though. Here's mine and it seems to work out quite well for a T1500 game to finish within 3.5 hours

    5/10
    10/20
    20/40
    30/60
BREAK 10 MINS Colour Up (whites 5 removed from game)
    50/100
    75/150
    100/200
    150/300
200/400 Colour Up (reds 25 removed)
    300/600
    400/800
    500/1000
    600/1200
    800/1600 WIDOW MAKER ROUND!

Mine is the opposite, most of the donks play like absolute nits and it can drag. I should maybe try a more aggressive blind format, but that is why I like having a few more 5's and 25's vs the extra 100 chip, I feel like I will less likely have to make change and all I lose is 1 x 100 chip per person.
  • Also, any idea why it says 0.39 per chip and then the paypal screen says 0.32 ?
  • JtotheLew wrote: »

Yea, that surprised me too. But it came up with the lower price. I would have happily paid the extra.
  • Yeah I am undoubtedly ordering them tomorrow night (payday) I think I will order..

    300x5
    260x25
    120x100
    20x500

For a total of 700 chips. I might order a couple 1000's just for fun but probably won't use them, at 0.32 a chip though why not.
  • ps. how good is this black friday sale? Maybe I should pick up a small cash game set then.

Moose can tell you more. But if its anything like the regular Black Friday in the States, it'll be chaos!
  • what do you think of my count?
  • For the limits you stated you play, looks good. 120 100 might be a bit too much, but should work out alright.

Even if you get too many, you can always post either here, ChipTalk, or Ebay. Guaranteed you'll sell extra's off quickly at a fair price.

The beauty of the Pharaoh's is the price. If you need to grow your set, you can do so without breaking your bank account for a high quality chip.
    Can't go wrong imo.
  • Beautiful set, AJ.

Now I need to find some Windex and paper towels :D
  • You just made a payment of
    $281.34

    Paid to

  • Now next payday to order a table and I'm set..
  • They just left the United States at 3:20 AM this morning...

I can't wait to get them I'm going crazy.
