Venturing into games other than Hold'em

After playing low limit hold'em for a couple of years, it's time to venture into new territory and pick a new game to learn. I'm considering trying out No-limit hold'em, Omaha-8, or 7 card stud, since these seem to be the most common games dealt in casinos other tham limit hold'em.

Before picking one and starting to develop my game, I'd like to see if anyone here has advice, suggestions, or stories about changing games.

Suggestions for good books to read on Omaha-8 and 7 card stud would also be appreciated.

  • easiest game for to learn will be NL holdem and id suggest large MTTs with small buy ins (try the stars $1 one) ..... you can get the most experience for a cheap price

ive played a little omaha too and havent fared too well...
  • I'm a huge fan of Stud 8, but you aren't going to find that spread at many B&M's. Ray Zee's "High Low Split Poker" is an excellent book for stud 8 (haven't read through the Omaha 8 section yet, but it's half Stud 8 and half Omaha 8). I haven't seen it yet, but I believe there is a Stud 8 chapter in the new Super System edition too.
