Chip Pron! Aztar Cash Set!
First, I'm not the chipaholic that our dear sweet Moose is, nor obviously not nearly as good a photographer, but I did promise to post these when it was complete, and it now is.
Started my chip journey with a PM from Moose shortly after he played a cash game at my place during the Golf & Poker Event I hosted last month. Moose brought over his own Aztar Cash Set that he had just completed and was eagar to put it in play. Considering my own cash set is simple dice chips, I had no issue with it all. Moose PM'd me to tell me someone on Chiptalk.net was selling their Aztar set for a bargain price. Had to act fast though, as interest was building, so I contacted the seller, and made the payment. A week later, this arrived...
Actually, the original purchased was for 1000 chips in total, 600 of which were $5 and a hundred $100. No $.50 chip, and only one rack of $1 chips. Although a nice set, it just wasn't really enough for a good $.50/$1 or $1/$2 game, so I asked our resident expert to sell me some extra $1's he had.
The $.50 Aztar was a different story though. Moose only just his $.50 Aztars and wasn't about to part with them and suggested that I look into the $.50 Presidents that were going on sale on chiptalk. Colour wise, they're very close to the $.50 Aztar, and would make a good substitute.
I sold 300 of the $5 chips and 50 of the $100 chips for a fair price (although the $100 chips went so fast, I should have doubled that price). The $.50 Presidents arrived last Friday and I met up with Moose at Buzzards' game on Saturday and collected the $1's he sold me as well as an Aztar Dealer button he was able to find for me.
My first ever high quality cash chip purchase is now basically complete. I'm still on the lookout for the $.50 Aztar though just to complete the set totally.
If you have never played with a high quality set like the Aztars, you have NO idea how different they are from the cheap sets you buy at Walmart or eBay for $20 per 500. There is a WORLD of difference in feel, sight, and sound that just doesn't compare to the lower end chip.
So what's next??
Well, now I am looking at a new tournament set! I really LOVE the Le Paulson Noir series of home chip, but for a 1000pc set, I'm looking at around $1700 +, so I think that will have to wait for another time.
CrazyKoby is giving me some samples at the next game he is attending from a source he has on the west coast, so I'll see how they are and determine if they are the chip for me.
However, right now, I'm SERIOUSLY considering placing an order the Pharaoh's Club chip on Chiptalk.net
Introducing the NEW Pharaoh's Club Clay Poker Chips
These chips look amazing, and I've heard nothing but great things about them, and for the price, I couldn't go wrong.
Decisions, decisions, decisions...
My next weekend tournament will be scheduled soon, and rest assured, the Aztars will be put into play once the cash game starts!!

The racks I have are NOT Paulson racks!!! There IS a difference! Damnit!
And if anyone has a link to an acrylic 1000 chip chip case, for a good price, let me know. Everything on ebay is asking for $100 shipping to Canada, and that's just stupid!
This is important.
Fwiw I ordered some off the FG Bradleys site when I got my deserts and the racks are 1 chip size too small on each rack.
I'm going to keep my eyes/ears open on chiptalk to see what the Black Friday sale will bring.
Wetts, planning on something for mid September right now, cash game to follow. Might host a small cash game before that though if enough interest is created.
Charlie, over at www.straightpokersupplies.com has bird cages for $79.99. HE's in Scarborough, if you want to take a run down some weekend. Also, purchases over $65.00 (I think) ship free.
The Presidents .50 looks great with the set.
I'll keep that in mind Wes, thanks.
Milo, we should set something up for the weekend. If I DO get a tourney set, I'll be looking for two bird cages. Maybe some Paulson racks if he has them too.
I like the Presidents in this set. Kind of throws off the Aztar concept, but they are really close and still make the set pop. Glad Moose suggested it. Maybe someday I'll build a President's set around them after I find the Aztar $.50
Well these came from a real casino so obv it is unpossible to get better quality than that. Shine them under UV light to see the hidden security features.
Buzzardd please note the quantities of 25s and 100s in this set.
If your Ching Hill only gives out 1500 in chips def look up the black friday sale because I assume you give out 5, 25, 100 and you could put together a tourney set for cheap using used chips.
You definitely need to take a splashed pot shot showing all these chips mixed together.
Haven't done that yet, but have seen pics of the results. Tres Cool!!^-^ Good idea. I'll see what can be done. BTW...T10000 tournament 20 players, would a 4,3,2,1 chip breakdown work effectively?
Be sure to do that at their first use!
I don't know what you mean by that.
I'm putting together a deal for myself for some more Paulson racks. If I have some left over I'll let you know. Gonna be $2 + shipping and I'm taking as many as can fit in a flat rate box.
Done! Take whatever extra you can get.
