Brag & a Beat all in one
I played in a new league that formed in Hamilton last night. I always seem to do well in tournaments when playing there for the first time. I made the final table and got to heads up. The woman I was playing against was a very good player and loved to show her cards if you folded to her bet.
In this heads up match, I went in with a 4 to 1 chip lead - $400 paid 1st and $200 for 2nd - She was very agressive and I let her take the blinds more than a few times but finally thought I trapped her with A-Jos, I limp, she shoves and I call she flips J-Tos - of course she rivers a straight.
Then three hands later she gets a straight flush to my A high flush. At this point, I think I have won two pots total during heads up. She kept showing an Ace when she shoved or a King and I had nothing. So I ask if she just wants to chop up the money -we had to keep playing due to points being awarded but could chop the money.
She agreed, and as hard as I tried I ended up losing. So, 2nd isn't bad but my brag is the chop and making the extra $100.
