Four Aces Poker Room?

WTF?

How have I never heard of this place. Has to be the nicest poker room in Canada, by far.

Road trip in the future? This place has WSOP like tournament schedules.

  • Also - Its a stand alone poker room I think, not a casino.
  • They hosted a Full Tilt event there this past spring. Not sure what the event was called maybe The Canada Cup or something.

Yup, correct name, airs on the score, with some ex poker night live hosts, if anyone happens to see a repeat on the score, does the dealer look familiar?;)

Yes the room looks good. :)

Reserve around Montreal , Legit also. Guy was on here about a month ago, Someone had questioned about security and wether or not they were legit. Looks nice too. Road trip definately not out of the question. I believe they have slots and all of the other games.
  • There is a thread somewhere on the forum from either April or May. Not sure what section it is in Also had something to do with a tourney they were holding 3500 BI :)

$2 from every raked hand for Bad Beat Jackpots and Bonus Hands

    Yuk
  • I heard this was a great room. Glad to hear it confirmed.

They ran the event Steve mentioned, but online satellites were almost exclusived handled by UB, though I think a few went through Bodog. I almost made the road trip there back when it was held, but couldn't get away.

EDIT: Holy $$$$ that tourney series looks great!
  • Cash game rakes

    1/2NL 10% up to $7 max
    2/5NL 5% up to $10 max

    + $1 badbeat drop

This. Nothing like anything we have over here
  • Wow. Rake is a little excessive. Good excuse to play $2/5 though.
  • sick tourney series

You have to remember that this is governed by the band that operates the casino and their rules are a little different then each provinces lottery and gaming commissions.

Did I misread or is it $11 rake at 2/5?
  • It said 5% for a max of $10 which means the pot would have to be at least $200 to take $10 out for rake.

In a 2/5 game, thats alot of the time.....

Yeah, I understand how rake works, that's just f'ing high...it's sickening when poker rooms try to fleece their customers.

I didn't check out the tourney section since I will likely never play a tourney there, but I assume the rake is more reasonable if Wetts was interested in playing there.
  • I think taking a 5% rake out of larger pots is a lot better than 10% out of basically every pot.

I'm used to paying 5% upto about $12 in Macau anyways, playing $1/3 with about $400 buy-ins.

Look at it this way though, if you play a TAG stratagy, you'll be in less pots and probably bigger pots.

I'd rather lose $11 out of $200+ pots with the potential to play pots upto $1000+, than lose $7 out of every $70+ pot with pots maxing out around $250.

I'd rather just play where the rake is 1/2 of what has been stated.

No one is forcing anyone to play there. Don't like it then don't play on the reserve. I am sure the ones out west are the same or more.

    I'm glad you're sure
  • "$2 from every raked hand for Bad Beat Jackpots and Bonus Hands & $4 from every Tournament entry will go to Bonus Hands."
Did somebody say YUCK!? With the Bad Beat requirement of losing with Aces full of Kings AND pocket Aces in your hand, the gambooolers at Four Aces will lose all their money to the high rake before they ever participate in a jackpot!

While the federal and Quebec governments view any non-government gambling room as illegal, they are too scared to enforce the Criminal Code in Kahnawake, so I wonder if WPT or NAPT would be willing to settle for holding an event there since none of the legal government-controlled casinos seem to be interested. :-\

  • People were talking about this place when I played at the Montreal Casino. Seem to have mixed reviews at the time.
