here's one for the day

im only a couple hands in cause i started late, so i don't have any specific reads. i used to bet the flop and then shut down and try to see a cheap river. id play different if i had more info but here im ready to lose my stack and am wondering if i have a defense against it? a higher raise preflop maybe but would have to be quite high to get rid of these players.....

  • Its a 2 buck tourney...one has a flush draw and one has a Jack...neither are letting go.

Bet sizing looks pretty decent but I might say to hell with it and ship the turn, as you are committed regardless.
  • looks fine to me, if they're paying that with weaker hands and draws you got a nice table there
  • Sizing on all streets looks OK. Im prob just shovemonkeying turn tho with a psb left.

ok as long as you haven't just lost your patience after figuring out what buy in level were at.....

nah, trust me, he'd shove or checkfold no matter what level we're at. Mostly do the shoving

k cause i think i stopped doing that and it was a major change, maybe ill consider it more in some places.

The higher the BI the more I'd like it, with players who can't read a stack to save their lives standard betting lines is better imo, even if it's obviously commiting. Low levels are all about adjusting to your opponents, I can't stress that enough

    Couldn't agree more. :)
  • since your all-in is almost a pot sized bet as it is, Here I think you should do it. If you were against 1 opponent I don't mind betting half the stack then shipping the river. Since there is 2 opponents, and you half-pot bet, if the V1 calls, the V2 with a FD is getting 4-1 on his money. If he has an A high FD he has the odds to call. Either way, It can't be that much of a mistake for this bet size, if a mistake at all. Still prefer a shove here. good post.

ya tried to argue, now i can't figure out why i did that. i guess i'm thinking that i can get some extra idiots to call with a worse hand or a draw. but i'm down with the all in.
  • Just seeing what happened pre makes means your raise was too small. Make it ~300 I think, 10BB should be decent, 7 is definitely too small. Your raise size shouldn't be relative to his, not at this level where people don't adjust with stack sizes. You should make it a standard size relative to the blind level and your own stack. Flop is standard, and I'd jam turn but what you did is fine as long as you put the rest of the chips in on any river regardless of action.
