Other uses for a Poker Table

Most of us have at least one table. I have four now, and hoping to some day build my own. Meanwhile, the other half puts them to use whenever she can.

Most times, the tables just end up folded against the wall, except the BIG one, which is always upright. Wife uses it constantly for her sewing layouts and for cutting patterns.

This is just today...she's laying out a pattern to cut out 10 or 12 1812-1814 period British Regular Rifle Company uniforms for the local Scout troop to take to Fort George in the fall. She's used it in the past few years to make costumes for school plays as well as halloween.

The deal is I don't mind, but on poker nights, its cleared of all of it for their true purpose. The remaining time, they are put to her uses.

Post pics of other uses your tables go through. I can't be the only one who allows this sacrilege to happen, am I??

  • As you know, AJ, we play around our Dining Room table. Wifey does the same sort of sewing you described, as she is a costumer for a local theatre group. Sometimes these costumes require hot glue guns to be used. Imagine my joy at the Missus leaving her glue guns on our $3,000.00 solid wood table . . .

And no, I do not own a true poker table, yet. Maybe when we move (4-5 yrs) I will manage to appropriate the basement level, but I doubt it.
  • My pics of other uses of my poker table are all NSFW and cannot be posted here.

And, no, I will not PM you.

ewwwww, remind me not to go to a home game at your place...
  • Oh I'm sure there are some who have conceived on their poker tables...pics would be optional for those situations. But am I the only one who allows their game shrine to be disrespected by posing as a sewing table?? If so, I'm talking to my lawyer to find out if it would be considered grounds for dissolvement.
  • The only other use so far any of my tables is for starting my boy out young with the fundamentals of poker
  • Mine collects all manner of junk, as it's located very close to the front door. Car keys, sunglasses, cell phones, wallet, loose change, the mail, dog leash, etc all ends up on my table! :rage:

However the table is the perfect height to use as a work bench for my guitars. Great for changing the strings or minor maintenance or cleaning.
  • Oh Brother. tables at my house sit and gather dust.
  • So cleaning off my table for today's game I found:

    My winter toque
    A pair of baby shoes
    2 coat hangers
    A bunch of change
    A bottle opener ( woohoo!)

Quite a lot of junk considering I had a game a few weeks ago!
