Which Way To Go.

I am considering diving into the on-line poker. Probably after we move in October.
I played a little on AP before the cheating scandal and since UB took over it has become such a garbage site. Just playing free rolls makes me want to puke .
I have downloaded P*'s and got myself set up.
Like I said after we move I will make a deposit and start playing. I never used a HUD before and I am also considering this option.
Anyone playing on P* have you ever had any trouble cashing out? Any other sites that are good to play on ?
Advice on good user friendly Huds that are not going to cost an arm and a leg.

  • If your going on pokerstars I give you maybe a week before you go back to playing live:D.

No problems cashing out from there, as for hud's your looking at about 80 bucks at least.
  • There are no problems (as far as cashing out goes) on Party, Stars or Tilt at least. It will depend on what games you want to play as they vary. My own personal choice for depositing would be Moneybookers. It makes it easy to move winnings from site to site as they all interface seamlessly with MB.
  • HUDs are overrated. If you want software to track ur play and to analyze what your doing thats fine.

If you think a HUD is going to magically increase your bb/100 you are wrong.

Just deposit and play. Buy a program if you determine you need it later.

    +1 ^^ This.

I don't use a HUD (course I'm a losing player, lol). Unless you are going to be a volume player I really don't see the value.. I play only recreationally (ie not every day) and never more than 2 tables so if that's what you are planning, save the money...
  • + whatever to what wetts and comp said.:)
  • I play mostly on smaller sites, 888, Gr88, Carbon..and sometimes Tilt. I quite like my HUD when playing MTT's..I see a lot of the same players over and over at the smaller sites and it certainly gives me insight when a table busts and I am dropped into a new one. That being said, it's (tracking program) best feature is that it is a fantastic source of data for breaking down your game later on.

Thanks Wetts, I am just looking for a little extra edge. I will give it to January and see how things go.
  • I have talked to a few people who play on stars and tilt and they tell me it's okay.
I don't figure on becoming a big roller, or retiring early on my winnings ( If there are any). I have had a few tell me that the hud has given them some insight on how other players play, Betting and folding etc.
I want to play some MTT's and see how I do.
  • Stop opening poker accounts without joining a rakeback company or other affliate-type website first.
  • Moose said it. Don't create no accounts unless you with a Rakeback program.
For the absolute beginner I would recommend joining through Rakebackpros and play at FTP. Although I hear that the cash games are much softer everywhere else.

I use Holdem Manager. I have a cracked version and hasn't cost me anything. I use HUD, but yeah, nothing too magical about it, but it does help. It is really confusing and too much to track for a beginner player. Quite a lot of articles to read to really learn how to use it properly. But I like holdem manager just for tracking my progress.

I've been playing poker for a while now. I'm like a breakeven player. It sucks, but I make some money off Rakeback. LOL.

To be honest, I have never heard of this. I will check into it.
    Thanks.
  • Cardrunners Any Good? 27% rakeback. affiliated with FTP

there is only one very small way this can be true, and its not what you are thinking i guarantee... but perhaps you put your opponents on a defualt profile and it works better that way?
  • Think I will see how I do until after Christmas then I will decide weather or not to get a hud. Have to do a lot of research before I will lay out the coin. Thanks wetts, I will probably go the route you sent me.
I am going to play on P*'s for a little and Join FTP after we move.
  • HVEE - You can get a trial Tracker program for free - I used Poker Edge and lots of data available but I have not used it since - I am a cheapo!

Also PS has more MTT although someone here said it best - lots of variance!
I usually play the turbo multi-table tournies as they fill up faster...

    Cheers
  • I am going to play both PS and FTP. Probably begin 1st week of October and play to Dec if I am ahead, I will keep going. Not sure if I am going to do a track on other players or just use my instinct. Which is off kilter right now BTW.
I will see which site I enjoy the most and then pick one.
