Any of these Vegas poker rooms worth checking out?
I plan on playing at PH (home base), Venetian and MGM. Have never been to any of the following poker rooms: Aria, Wynn, Mirage, Bellagio. Any worth the visit? Probably check out Wynn and Aria.
Mainly playing 1/3 or 2/5. Any other rooms on the main strip worth checking out? Thanks.

thanks; I guess the food isn't comp'd?
If you have enough comps it is...
that's something I have to be more aware of this time around. I have a good habit of checking my card in, but always forget on the way out. Happens everytime.
Venetian is by far and away the best, although last time I went the games were much tougher than every other time I've been. Still, it *is* a live game.
Wynn is a nice room, but it has the same problem - a lot of local regs.
Mirage is pretty awful. Everyone at the table will be like 60 years old.
I hate the Bellagio. The games are soft but honestly it's not worth it. The tables are crammed together, the staff are grouchy beyond belief, and most of the dealers have one foot in the grave. The place is dirty.. there's half empty glasses everywhere. It's very smoky, especially if you're on a table by the rail and people are blowing smoke into the room. Also, the players, in general are grumpy as all hell because of all of these reasons. Recommendation to avoid.
I played once at Aria and it was kind of ruined for me because there was a loudmouth drunk at the table. Some of the people aren't clear on the rules. The cage told me the max buyin at 5/10 was $1500, I got to the table and it was $3000. I asked for a seat change button and got it, then was told it goes by seniority at the table. Why have a fucking seat change button then? So it was annoying but really, it's a nice room.
MGM was a really soft game when I played the 5/10 there, but that was like 2 years ago I think and they don't have 5/10 anymore. I'm sure it still runs 2/5, check it out.
So, yeah, Venetian is my recommendation.
Awesome post, please post your trip reports on here more!:)
The casino is called Orleans and it seemed to have a lot less local grinders. Lots of retired dudes playing to pass the time, tourists looking for some fun, and dealers playing on their off days.
I only played their $1/2 game, but it allows $500 buy-ins which made it play much bigger. I played from about noon to 6pm to pass the time before my redeye flight.
Otherwise, I stuck to the $2/5 game at the Venetian and the Wynn. Was happy with both setups, though food service was a little slow at the Wynn. Daytime games were reasonably soft, though they definitely had a fair number of local grinders.
Have fun down there!!
Caesars now on the other hand is the total opposite. Their 1-3 game plays like 5/10cent online and literally if you play position and make reasonable plays with hands you will have a decent win rate. Their 2-5 game rarely runs and if it does there are usually only 1-2 tables max, however they are beatable and much easier than Venetian. (The food is crazy expensive, just make some profit and pull it from the table...)
Aria I would compare it to the same as Caesars with both games. However the difference here is that there are a ton more regulars who seem to be over the age of 70 and believe the only game you should play is one where people are donating money, any type of game that actually involves some thinking or if they see people making lay downs they leave. So the games tend to break sporadically. (the food at the table is expensive but they do pay you per hour so you can get a discount)
MGM has really soft games as well, I would put them in with Monte Carlo/IP/Bally's etc. These casinos aren't known for their card rooms and so you get maybe 1 or 2 players that know things about poker and the rest are from your kitchen table home game. Fun if you wish to sit and just get absolutely hammered.
Bellagio is in its own world. The card room is really weird as they have all the lists on the inside of the room so you have to crowd by pillers to see where you are on the list. The limits/buy ins are similar to Fallsview and play the same way. The games aren't tough and its one of those things where you want to goto vegas and play at bellagio just to say you played there. (goodluck with food service or service in general)
Goodluck where ever you play and if you can get on a table just as tournament players start getting knocked out you can definitely make a few extra bucks (IE Caesars and Venetian/MGM dailys)
Hope that helps.
but how did you make out at those shops and what were the games like?
I did check out Aria which seems like a great hotel to stay at and the poker room seemed pretty busy mid day.
