The rake at Mandalay Bay is one of the worst. Stay away from their poker room. Try Excalibur next door to get your feet wet or go across the corner to MGM.

the trek from Mandalay to Golden Nugget will take a bit of time, i stayed at Mandalay in April and even though the rake is bigger than average i would say the skill level of the players makes it worth your while, i played for 3 days and made around 1500 so on average 500 a day buying in for 200 each time
