How do i play AK?

I no there is a million answers to this question, but i need to here at least 5 of them.I just got done session on stars 3-6 limit, and am thinking ,i threw way to much money in the pot with ak amd aq.It was one of those days where you get ak and aq all day long and the only time u hit is on the trn giving your oppenent 2 pair.In general do u guys think it is better to check and see the trn for free or bet and see a free river.I am talking in late position with 2 people in front of me.And also wonder if i am utg and i miss the flop bet ,or check and give it up,again with 2 callers.I no this is a very broad ques.,but any feedback will help.

  • I hate playing AK AQ. If I dont hit the flop I fold/check. I have in the past folded AK to a pre flop raise when it was raised 2 times before it came to me. I play AK the same way I play mid pairs 88-JJ. If I dont hit hte flop and there is a bet I fold.

AK is the swiss-army knife hand for me. So many ways to win and lose with it. You'll never be at peace unless you know and can fold AK. Figure out when to fold with it, and it will be your friend.

  • hmmm...
    1/ bet
    2/ raise
    3/ fold
    4/ check raise
    5/ check fold

    did i miss any?

i'd say you gotta know the 'mode' of the table to know how to play.

in general, you should be aggressive. in limit, with 2 raises in front of you on a loose table, i'd call. with a single raise, i'd raise again.

if i didn't hit the flop, depending on how coordinated it was, i'd lead out or raise on it.

on the turn, again, i might bet it if no one is showing any strength.

on the river, it is likely that anyone who calls your bet has you beaten already. so i'm not likely to bet unless the only ones left in the hand are very weak. you might be able to get them to fold something less than top pair.
