Put him on the flush draw the whole way. Any time he had made these weird raises preflop and a flush draw came, he would check. Gave him the odds on flop and turn to chase, believing I could get away from it if it hit. Should I have bet more on the river or was that about all he was calling?

  • you got 3 streets of value here?

If youre asking if you could bet more on the river, probably. Villain put in like 40% of his stack by Turn. The ace either helped him, or he bricked.

I think you get the same call from betting 3K here as you do from shoving, and conversely get the same fold from shoving as you do from betting 3K if he misses.
  • You may have gotten like 500-800 more, but really that's it. Otherwise, I'd be taking notes about how many chips this guy donked off to you.

Edit - looking at this again, only way you get any more is on the river bet if he puts you on like KQ/KJ or something.

Man, I am going to have to remember this hand when I get home so I can long onto PS and find this guy.

This logic doesnt make too much sense to me. At that point villain has like 60% of his chips in the middle. If hes doing this, hes calling a shove.

Look at it before hero river action: villain put in 40% of his stack at this point.

    1) If he has a busted flush draw no pair, you get nothing, regardless.
    2) If he has Kx and has called down this far, he is calling a shove, because he is a retard.
    3) If he made an Ace on the river, he is calling a shove.
    4) If he has 2 pair, he is calling a shove.

I think this is a very particular spot where villain is calling any bet, or folding, so there is some lost value in not sticking it in.
  • if he was on a flush draw then i think you overbet the river slightly although he could have an ace or king. if you can expand his range to aa and kk you have to think about betting 3000 in the end and what you would do if he shoved.
  • Am I missing something here that you should have bet more on the turn?

If I didn't believe I could fold my set on the river if the flush hit, then yes I think I should have bet more on the turn. Felt (and was right) I had a good read on villain though, so unless a heart hit I wasn't concerned.

yes, but he want's more value! The guy is not folding on that turn.:)

I think 2/3 pot is a good turn bet. This puts us in a position to have just a bit more than a PSB on the river so we can bomb it.
