Cheap Motels/Hotels in Calgary

I'm looking to go down there for the 5K HU Event and it seems like most hotels are like $130-$170 per night which is ridiculous, I could go to Vegas much much cheaper forsure. I'm wondering if there are any cheap smaller motels or something as I'm not looking to spend like 1k just to come there and stay + the buyin, would appreciate some ideas or help. I'm hoping I can find someone to split a room with, that would make things easier.

  • As I recall, that seems to be the going rate here during the summer. I think I was surprised by that when I first flew out here a couple of years ago. The cheapest you'll likely find is in motel village but I'd rather stay somewhere nicer downtown.

A quick search on expedia found a few $85 hotels, but nothing nice.
  • I think the Sandman in West Calgary has deals for CPT players. I know all their rooms are blocked out for the event and you need to book with a code/number or something like that.
  • visit www.copc2010.com we have a few accommodation deals there and are countinually expanding them for the event.
  • When booking with the Sandman, use "cpt" or "bpoker" for booking codes to give you the good rate. I believe they are $109/night.
  • You would be better off paying $30 a night more and staying somewhere nicer/more central in my opinion.
  • Double checked and all Sandman locations, not just West, are good for the CPT rates.
  • I'll try to find some cheaper rates, motels etc. gotta put it on back burner for few days though.
  • Ok here is what I have to contribute to this thread. Take a Vegas road trip mentality/ approach to this one guys. Strongly consider the Deerfoot in and splitting the room with another player. The lowest rates Calgary seems to offer is about $70-$80 a night, it won't be much to look at and if you don't have a car here you are going to pay for it in cabs. From the Deerfoot, there will be lots of players you most likely know coming and going and most events will wrap up there.

I googled "Cheap Hotels in Calgary" and got some results but I really don't know what standard each particular individual is looking for, so pretty hard to make recommendations to suit everyone. Splurge and split near a venue, best bet.
