Set over set is devastating. That's basically a recipe for disaster in a no-limit game with a non-threatening board, such as the one you described.
Fortunately for you, you had the higher set!
In a tournament, I can't think of a worse situation that flopping a set that's a dog to a higher set... generally speaking, unless you have your opponent covered, you can kiss the tournament goodbye. A similiar (but not quite as lethal) situation would be moving in with kings preflop against aces. That's another tournament-ender, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it...
Just random paranoid thoughts. As I said, though, ni han!

actually, he took it well..of course, I can only go by what he typed on the screen, but he was saying how he's got to learn to throw a set away...then we got to talking about how hard it is to put someone on a set rather than top 2 or high over pair...maybe he should've put me on a set of aces on the turn...but I'd likely lose my chips in his shoes as well...
as i read the hand again, I wonder if there would've been more action if I had just called the flop bet...I know that I raised to protect my hand from flush drawers and make them pay for it....but who knows, maybe someone makes a nice A or 2 pair on the turn if I had let them in...at best I could've missed out perhaps $20 or so, but I'm not worried about it...so far have turned my deposit into $754
