For anyone serious about NLH!!

I have played poker for a little over 6 years. When I first started I was very very successful at a young age. But poker has definately changed over the years, the cards people will play, betting patterns, etc. I went on a bad run for like 2 years, will 1 big win a year to get me by. Finally I decided I needed to study poker more and learn more, as previously as a youngin, I thought I had the game figured out. So when i decided I wanted to learn more, I gained enough FPPs on pokerstars to buy a book. The first book I wanted to get was "Power holdem strategy" by Daniel Negreanu. For anyone that wants to improve, I suggest reading this book, I got immidiate results. After reading the book, I put $100 on fulltilt and played a $26 tourney and won it for 7k. After that i slowly built more of a bankroll and a week or 2 later I played in an FTOPS event and won it for $195k. Now some people will say its not the book, everyone gets lucky here and there. But since then, its been just over a month, Ive made a number of final tables and deep runs in big buy in tourneys like the $162 buyins on fulltilt, I even got 22nd in the $2200 ftops 2 day event. This book will open your eyes to a world of NLH that you could never imagine. The strategy's in the book are not complicated or complex at all, there is a lot to comprehend though, Ive read through some sections more then once already to grasp the concepts. The ideas that are presented to you will leave you thinking "that makes so much sense, how did I not think of this".
I just thought Id let everyone know of the book that has changed my poker career, and it can for all of you as well.
Put it on your top of your things to buy list, and go get it NOW!! haha
anyways, that is all.

  • Not to doubt you or anything, but care to post your screenname for FTP or P*'s? Less trusting folk might think you are exaggerating a smidge.
  • sure, both screen names are the same as my username here. Betrthanphil. never heard of me before :P haha jk.
Just out of curiousity, why would I make it up haha

Is this sarcasm, wow this forum is really welcoming to new members. If all Im gonna get is a bunch of sarcastic responses what the point in posting anything. You might as well put a big post telling new members they arent welcome. I think the responses to this post are embarrassing considering what the topic is. "anyone SERIOUS about NLH" when it appears that no one around here can be serious about one post.

    is the book there...or not?
  • My understanding is that most "serious" players are more into instructional videos, and training sites, rather than book learning. Now, ymmv, but the reviews I have read about DN's book have been fairly unflattering.

As for your welcome here, well, lets just say you have a familiar "style" to your posts, which makes people suspicious. Your reponse to that suspicion has been what most would have expected . . . lost yet?

Carry on and, if you are genuine, it'll come out in the wash. If not, well that will wash out, too.

Your so worried about this fed guy that everyone hates, that youve gotten away from what this site is for, discussing poker. If you dont like books and like videos good for you. If the reviews were unflattering well o well. Im telling you my experience with the book and how it has helped me, if you dont want to read the book, dont, if you dont want to reply with something useful and just be sarcastic and rude to new members then why waste your time and reply, do you get humour out of it. Im not trying to start a fight or anything, but its kind of annoying when i took the time to write this post and share my experience over the last 6 years, only for people to sarcastically reply. Ive given you my info to prove it and I agree anyone could just search a guy and say hes playing it. But I could tell you well in advance what will and wont be played. I can tell you, you wont see betrthanphil playing between friday and sunday as he will be away for the weekend. He, being me :P
  • Well, enjoy your weekend, then. See you Monday, so to speak . . .

    BTW, which Phil?
