  • Doubt I call (but Im folding pre).

Everything in his range that possibly plays this way got there.

FD's, QJ, etc. I think AQ is the only possible hand you beat here. Maybe KJ.

I just couldn't range him up, I think I would be more inclined to fold if the flushcard didn't hit tbh, I think that card makes it almost impossible for him to shove a straight here after my weak bets on the flop and turn
  • the way that hand was played i really dont think i could call. Im surprised he didnt raise the turn if he was gonna steal if the flush draw hit, figured if he would represent the fd he wouldve represented the str8 on turn too. But great call worked out this time haha.
  • Have I mentioned how much I hate calling with KQ?? What are you ever ahead of that wants to play a decent pot? Raise, sure. Call...not so much.

    Anyway..yeah, the flop bet..15k into 47k? I like a flop bet of about 28-30ish.
    Fold the river shove.

    Fold the river shove.

30k tightens up their calling ranges quite a bit though. I have top pair decent kicker but I'm not looking to blow up the pot right away. The field is prettty weak postflop and I'm confident in my ability to make tough decisions.

And again, if I'm confident that a straight wouldn't check shove the river even against my weak bet and that he's unlikely to have a flush combined with the fact that this guy had shown a tendency to fight quite a bit for pots postflop I see no reason not to go with my gut
  • Related: Semi risky high reward post flop plays that only work cause people suck. (highly exploitative plays that puts me in so called "tough" spots)

  • idk those 2 hands seem pretty standard imo, specifically #2.

Maybe I dont play the KK hand like that all the time but the 1010 line is what I'll take almost always.
  • True, just saying that the line is an adjustment for the way people will spew off more chips with worse hands. The call call call line or the call check call lines are designed to allow your villain to get into a spot where he'll throw chips away for no reason

(I'm finally to the point in my game where I'm not afraid to open myself up to a checkraise or to give my opponent a chance to bluff cause I profit more than I lose in those spots)

I know I know I agree with wetts all the time;) but this is bang on.

But would like to say thanks for posting hands like this, it is giving me some confidence in myself at a time where I kinda feel lost as I would pretty much do the same as you or say wetts so I know I am at least not playing terrible.

    Be my coach you bastard!:p

Top pair good kicker against a reasonably draw heavy board. Nothing wrong with taking the pot there for a near 25% gain in chips.
And again, if I'm confident that a straight wouldn't check shove the river even against my weak bet and that he's unlikely to have a flush combined with the fact that this guy had shown a tendency to fight quite a bit for pots postflop I see no reason not to go with my gut
Not sure why he would be unlikely to have the flush/straight considering the odds you gave him to draw. It seems your top pair is pretty transparent....As for his tendancies, well, those are things we can't see or know, so can't factor in when making these analysis...

As for KK and 1010...yeah, pretty standard lines..I might change that KK up depending on how I have been playing on that particular table..but..all good.

And yeah, ditto what Phil said...I like these hands :)
