Breaks can be so great. I took a Approx 7 week break and came back. Since coming back my bb/100 is something like 55/100 (2.2k hands lol). I think it's sustainable .
Even though I realize many poker players would love to be a winning online grinder, I sometimes get the grinding blues and feel shitty while playing. Fortunately, I still make +EV decisions but even after I win, I don't feel as happy as before. :baffled:
This is a very different type of shittiness. Im not really enjoying it because I feel like Ive lost control of my emotions towards the game. I'll just stay at the lower limits and have fun until that stability comes back.
You sound like you have cabin fever. Online poker at a relatively serious level is a very isolated game. Not many people really give a shit when you're winning or losing. Alot of high volume people get around this by having sweat sessions - ie, getting together at someones house for a Sunday grind, so they can do wat they do, and still be social.
My biggest downswing was back last September for over $5K. I have been a bankroll nit since then, and my ABI has been steadily going down. Even after I took a shot at a $162 buy-in online MTT and won it, I keep unregistering my entries that I win through satellites instead of playing the $162-$640 tourneys, then use the T$ to grind micro limits.
I was shocked when shaundeeb, timex & other 6-digit+ winners at 2+2 posted that they were basically burnt out, but I now have those same feelings of burnout and lack of motivation. Even though I realize many poker players would love to be a winning online grinder, I sometimes get the grinding blues and feel shitty while playing. Fortunately, I still make +EV decisions but even after I win, I don't feel as happy as before. :baffled:
Playing high volume online can be akin to having a really boring and redundant desk job. I think the the players that would love to grind online full time for a living are those that don't have other options for decent employment. It can be fun for a while, but as an everyday job I can think of many more rewarding/interesting endeavors. The key is balance online play with live play and to have other interests outside of poker to keep things fresh.
Come on down to the $2-10. range, I can school ya.. lol, just kidding, tough run. Obviously though you recognized that your play had changed. I think that's the biggest part of the battle. Reset, recharge and get back at it... You're one of the few honest ones around me thinks...
Hook me up!
ya comp's protege, not a bad ring to it.........:)
imo 10k downswing is kind of rediculous and bad playing.
you have to take a breather, step back and really think about what you are doing. bad beats is one thing, but 10k downswing tells you that your math is off as is your feel and reads, no way you can run that bad for that long.
Lower limits, NIT play, and start grinding it out.
Ive been there before, now I'm up again, and poker is much more enjoyable when you are in the black.

I dont know and dont care.. any downswing regardless of how big it is $$$ wise over THREE months is ludacris.
This isnt a pissing match, I dont even know the guy, im just saying, step away and re evaluate the game and style youre playing if you experience that long of run bad.
Im sorry if I come across as a dick, but Im not the type to hold hands and say "it will be alright, the cards will go your way".. I call it like it is.
Score cards, get your score cards here . . . can't tell the gimmick accounts without a score card.
For the record, Wetts is one of about half a dozen players on this site that I would consider putting serious $$$ into, if the opportunity presented itself.
As for the comments from our Jr. members, I think the handle of the former sums up the quality of his argument, and the latter is engaged in knob polishing of the first order.

From a mindset, no. Today was enjoyable.
From a bankroll standpoint, I have some catching up to do........

he also plays 150K$$ hands... that statement is invalid, and hardly comparible.. he could lose 500k+ in one session, not over 3 months.
