UIGEA on June 1

In case the UIGEA enforcement in the US starting June 1 has an impact on financial institutions used by Canadians, it is a good idea to deposit now rather than after May 31. This includes adding enough money to be properly bankrolled for the games you intend to play.

On the flip side, if your online bankroll has grown to more than what you need to play for the foreseeable future, it would not hurt to withdraw the excess before June 1. I have finally cashed out my excess funds. My last wire transfer took two business days and cost $38 (including $28 from an intermediary bank).

There is a lot of fear and speculation among US players on what might happen after June 1, including some banks improperly rejecting withdrawals or Howard Lederer and other FTP owners getting arrested during the WSOP! Here is a more factual article:

  • Curious as to why you think this will effect Canadians Blondefish?
  • I think we will be ok but there def is some concern... I mean neteller pulled out of canada when they left the US market w/ no real legal reasoning.
