poker chairs?

One thing I really need to start looking into is decent poker chairs. Any suggestions on where to start?

  • Don't get those black fold up chairs from Canadian Tire. They are very cheap quality they break very easily. If you need fold-ups, then spend more on quality chairs. Your guests will thank you.

Look somewhere that sells used/discounted office furniture. Go for conference/office chairs. I bought mine at the ReStore(basically a Value Village for house stuff) for $5 each!
  • Which is great if you have lots of space. I use the folding chairs, as we play around my dining room table, and have had no complaints (and some of my players are well over 200 lbs.). If you don't have the space, folders are fine, imo.

If your poker space does not have to convert back into something else when the game is over, get the office type chairs. There are ALWAYS office furniture close-outs being advertised, so you should be able to get some good chairs for cheap.
  • The Costco folding chairs are good. If you want the real thing - Gasser chairs are what a lot of poker rooms use.

  • Budget and specifics on use- do they need to be packed away between, and in how big of a space, what sort of table, is this in a man cave or a part of your house that is open to other people.. make a HUGE difference here.

Presuming that they need to be packed away between use there is no such thing as a 'decent' set of chairs..they're all uncomfortable. ('stacking' is always better than 'folding' though)

+1, though they are fairly pricey.

Another option is wait till the high back folding chairs go on sale at Canadian Tire for approx $12 each. Not as good as the costcos but better then the black ones from Canadian Tire.
  • I have a room in my "man cave" where chairs will not need to be put away, so folding ones are out of the question as they are less comfortable IMO. My table fits 10 people very comfortably with our dining room chairs, so having some chairs on wheels would be wonderful. I'd love 10 of those gasser chairs! I suspect each chair will run $50+ though or am I wrong? Office close out sales sound good too, will have to keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for the suggestions so far
  • executive office chairs with a nice arm rest are more comfortable than the casino ones..they just take up even more room.

if you don't have your table already..get one made a little larger than normal and treat yourself to really great computer chairs on wheels that you can buy slightly used for very little.

Another option for smaller spaces is only using 8 office chairs with no arms and pulling in two armless stacking chairs in when needed..(presuming your home games are tournament, not cash, and thus not going to necessitate all 10 seats for long)

Please post pics of your set up when you get done!!

EDIT: oops, you have a table..I also like mixing a few chairs with arm rests and a few without, as long as they are the same material it'll look fine.
