I'm going to start watching, "Let It Ride"

    Jenifer Tilley is great in this movie.

    It has a good movie about horse racing.

    ... You know those sick gamblers that you see when you go to the casino's and underground casino's? The beginning of this movie is full of them..

    What keeps running through my mind is ... 18% house rake.... That's just unbeatable..

    I'd guess..

    Probably less than .01% of the people have the skill to win ...

    Hard eight at carps is stupid bet.

    Any centre table action is awful odds.

    Owning Mahoney. Feel good flick it's not.

    Also not sure if it qualifies as a gambling movie but "Grifters" is very underrated imo.

    has anyone watched that stu ungar movie (high roller: the stu ungar story)? i came across it the other day, but i had never heard of it before then. still haven't watched it yet.

    If it's the one with "Chris" from the Sopranos as Ungar . . . meh.

    Owning Mahoney was great, as was The Cooler. I am admittedly biased towards anything with Macey or Hoffman in it, though, so ymmv. Let It Ride is okay, but made better by Tilley's . . . urm . . . talents.

    California Split is a fantastic movie. I want to find a DVD copy, but always let it slip my mind . . .

    I'm a Macy fan but he is a character actor and most of his character's are very one dimensional. This is one of his best role's by far.

    I love Owning Mahoney... It captures the mind of a sick degen.

    Theres a chinese movie called poker king. Regular chinese stars plus cameo appearances by Liz Lieu, Nam Le, Chino Rheem, and Johnny Chan. Best part of the movie was seeing those cameos, movie was not very good at all.

    About 1/2 through the Gambler. Wow this film is loaded with stars and character actors.
