Probably asked before, best run pokerroom in Ontario?

Played them all over a number of years. I think it boils down to Brantford and GBH. I am not a big fan of the badbeat jackpot, but in terms of the flexibility and smooth running and short wait times, I lean towards GBH.

Thoughts?

  • I also hate bad beat jackpots.
Low rake and low session fees also figure prominently in my assessment.

Also the more bad players the better.
  • In Ontario I've played:

    BCC
    GBH
    Fallsview
    CN
    CNE
    Windsor
    1000 Islands

I think the dealers and the staff are the most important overall for making you feel welcome and valued as a player.

Next is the quality of the players, available games and rake.

Ambience is the next most important. Isolation from casino noise and traffic.

Secondary to that is the quality of the chips/cards/tables and chairs.

Next is location to the washroom and other ancilliary features like geographical location, onsite/nearby food, drink service and finally comps and other promos like jackpot drops.

BCC seems to try the hardest in all these areas and seems to do the most promotion overall of its poker room as an important part of its' casino package. I haven't seen the new room yet but building a brand new room dedicated to poker as part of their renovations is by far the largest indicator of how poker high ranks in comparison to the other games and slots at BCC.

GBH also seems to be genuinely concerned in attracting poker players to its' casino.

Most of the others don't care/have poor traffic/poor customer service.
  • I agree with Moose on BCC. That is usually the poker room I prefer when playing live.
  • I concur..

Brantford has got tourneys running every week. What happened to Rama[;s?

    D
  • I believe the Rama trnys used to be once a month, I don't know if they still do them anymore. Rama btw has horrible waiting lists and I would rank it near the lower end of casinos.
  • I am told that Seneca is the best run card room . . . technically NOT in Ontario, but it's a short walk over the bridge, so fuck it.

You were told correctly. I love playing at Seneca. The poker room is out of the casino so there's no irritating slot machines going crazy every 30 seconds. The players are for the most part absolutely terrible. I've never waited more than 20 minutes to get seated and every time I've been there was either on a Friday or Saturday. If you go there though, bring hand sanitizer. Hopefully it's changed, but the chips were pretty gross. And a lot of the tables looked like they needed new playing surfaces. Other than that though, I would rather walk over there and play any day. Plus, the free beer is nice too.

Maybe ban the multi accounter? Hmmm, wonder who it could be? :)

Think so? Maybe we could set odds on who it is and do some wagering, leading up to the RC?
