please explain this

What the f!@# is with everyone limping big pairs!!!!

I don't get this and the idiots who do it, just had a guy limp utg with QQ (lol), I have KK, I raise he reraises after alot of thought(lol) and money goes all in and he hits a god dam queen on the turn and another dummy gets rewarded.

I don't see the point unless your heads up, we were at a full table, lolololol

All night tonight people have been doing this.

  • Well he did get you to put all your $ in with a pair. ;)
  • Stay positive, dont let the tilt get to you :P Eventually the cards will fly your way.
  • Run better next time.

    /thread.
  • Phil, if he had raised in front of you, would you have folded? Folded KK? I do not see how this hand goes any different. Do you really fold if he shoves on a Q high board?

Get over it, and move on. You got your chips in good, and lost due to the random fall of the board.

Keep smiling, keep playing, and throw a loonie in the bad beat jar.
  • It really depends on how the table has been playing. If the table is loose, you can look to pick up chips before the flop my making a reraise. He probably isn't going to fold preflop to all-in any way he plays it anyways.
  • You tilt too much, waay too much, I've seen a too many posts from you just complaining about how you run bad all the time.

people limp all kinds of things. Limping queens does really disguise the strength of your hand so even though I don't do it much I don't hate it if you're good postflop. Had some guy limp KK UTG+1 who managed to make me stack off a decent # of BB's from middle position with AQs whereas I may not have if he open raised. It's not like he's gonna be crushed by your kings everytime and obv be getting it in as an underdog so I think the limp could be made to be +EV

you have two seperate things here, one is the bad beat but you know how that goes. the limping with big pairs is a question i always ask myself....would this guy limp with big pairs? and i always make a note if i see someone do it. its rarely the good players, so ill look to play pots with these players.
  • Although Harrington pretty much always raises with QQ... According to HEPTAP, Limping with QQ is good if you do it so you don't get blown off the hand preflop ...
  • I often limp with AA-QQ in early position, and sometimes late position. Early position, usually looking to re-raise. Late position, I will often see a flop and play my big pair like a small pair. If there is a lot of action on the flop (especially a coordinated flop), I can easily get away from one pair. If I hit a good flop, it is well disguised and I get paid off big time. Its about mixing up your game. This is more from a cash game perspective.

If you always raise with your big hands, its too transparent and good players will pick up on this. Then the LAGs will call you with 24o and hit a harmless flop and they take all your chips.

ummm yes A queen high board would have been better, this case probably a good percentage that I would have folded cause I knew he was slow playing something because of the "tell", you have to play more online to understand the above.

hmmmm, Kinda getting into that with 2 hands right now.

    Who the hell is HEPTAP?:p
  • Seems like this is the "classic smart play". Players seem to think "If I limp UTG with a monster hand, someone will raise and then I come over the top". Been seeing it at the casino too. For me, I love it, because I just don't give them the action they want. It lets me limp in with my suited connectors, low pairs etc for a way cheaper price. When I hit, they can never fold their overpair and money comes my way. Exploit this bud :)
