WPT Returning to Canada!

I just found out that the WPT will have a Canadian event this year!!! It is planned for November and I will post again when it is finalized.

There will be at least $1 million in WPT packages that will be given out this year. Aside from the new WPT Canada, which other WPT event would you like to wiin a package the most?

The WPT events in the US would be my last choice, as they are the most -EV especially with the 30% withholding. I have won multiple qualifiers towards the WPT LA Poker Classic $15K package (+ Celebrity Invitational), but I unregistered from the $750 final step because the extra state taxes in California makes it a total of ~38% extra rake.

  • none, i would go to Barcelona and sell the seat if that's an option
  • Is the wpt still crappy structure where as final table it is shove fest?

+1, just because it would be a nice to visit while playing a little cards. Great paella Buddy!
  • Will it be Fallsview again?........or somewhere else?

I have been told it will be November, so my guesses are:

    1) Fallsview and WPT have kissed and made up, and what was going to be the next Fallsview Poker Classic will instead mark the return of WPT North American Poker Championship. "cheers:

    2) Or River Rock Casino Resort, British Columbia.

No, the WPT final table structures greatly improved years ago. WPT NAPC 2007 at Fallsview may have set a record for the most number of hands in the final table, including heads-up.
  • is this a relaunch of the failed WPT CANADA? or is it just one stop on the main tour like the fallsview NAPC was?

    source? how reliable?

    if true, great news.

you know if you win multiple seats or somethin;)
  • bump!

    anymore info, November, location?
  • Just had a chat with Jeffrey Haas, he said it is highly likely that Canada will have a stop on the NAPT in the near future. Look for an announcement of 2 additional US stops in about a month's time.
  • ya they have to announce something for napt, lol mohegan sun is around the corner and the last announced stop.
  • What place offers the best tax?
  • Yay, a NAPT in Canada, hopefully in Ontario! The Venetian got over 800 runners, so that is definitely a success!
  • I remember reading about halifax wanting to make a splash on the poker scene, and its a nice facility, id like to see it there, or falls view.
  • Please let it be in Ontario.
  • god i hope it comes to fallsview. im in toronto so thats the closest lol...and im really hoping it pans out like ventian when i was there. they had $500 tourneys and $300. i really hope to make a run at the main event if it comes here though. 5 k would be good lol
  • Ontario is Canada's Poker Hot Bed so why not. Fallsview or Windsor.

Hasbeen, over the hill.... like me! :) oh actually neverhasbeen... But I captain the three time champion Rocks, at least after this Saturday..
  • Ya`think !!!!!
  • Had the oppurtunity to speak with a couple of people who are "In the Know" at Fallsview and it does not look like the WPT is coming back there anytime soon.
They have heard, Windsor- Caeser's - River Rock - Richmond BC and Montreal as possible replacements to host NAPC.:(
  • Depending on the date...I just don't see November as being a good option in Vancouver with the BCPC's happening then...or, maybe it is good with back to back weeks?

They would probably melt the events together to one event, not two. Pretty sure it won't be the NAPT, as there is one in LA at the same time as the BCPC.
  • Might be early next year. I know they were talking close to the border. I would hazard a guess and say Caesars in Windsor. Detroit is right across the river so a lot of the American players would fly into Detroit and come across.
I know a lot of them did this as Buffalo is right acroos the bridge basically.
  • WPT won't be at Caesars in Windsor as it is owned by Harrahs and they own The WSOP
  • I thought the Ontario Government owned all of the casinos and slots.
They did this to keep the bad element out.
  • I am not exactly sure what happened but a few years ago Harrahs bought Casino Windsor and renamed it Caesars Windsor.

I keep hoping for a WSOP Circuit to make an appearance one of these years. Won't be this year but hopefully sometime soon
  • Even after the The province said they would never allow privately owned casinos to operate in Ontario. It would be nice if they did run a circuit event or 2 there.
Maybe even have a wsop Canada, would be nice but with the Government being involved now that I think about it has to be a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ARSE!
  • Falls Managment operates the two casinos in Niagara Falls on behalf of the government of Ontario.

Harrah's operates the casino in Windsor on behalf of the government of Ontario.

Same thing. You just recognize one name and not the other.
