PAD Nickname Week

I only watched because I had never seen Anette play...not too impressive.

Phil Hellmuth -- I haven't ever seen him play well in a cash game (FTMillion and PAD Cashgames this season had him greatly outclassed) and now I see how he wins tournies, he gets big hands vs terrible players. Without cards he is hopeless and cannot play shorthanded and shortstacked which is surprising to me. His play was just terrible -- I assume he just plays these things to extend his tv airtime as much as possible. Oh, and nice shorts.

I usually can't stand Esfandiari -- I usually only watch cash games and he always seems like such an under rolled nit -- but I guess anyone mocking Hellmuth has my vote as entertaining.

  • Watch anything else with Anette and you'll see her play better, she didn't seem to confortable in the lineup really and played mostly ABC poker. I did like the hand she went out on though after reading Laak as weak.

Esfandiari though just keep disappointing me, calling off with 3s here and in the PKR HU tourney he's gotten it in early on with KQ and K7 and sucked out. He's turning into a calling station in my eyes, there's not really much of a defence for some of his plays
  • They should re-nickname Helumth the Poker Pussy instead of the poker brat. I've never seen someone whine quite so much as this little twerp. How no one has punched him square in the jaw yet is beyond me. Saw one episode of PAD where Negraneau just lit into him and told him why he sucked at cash play. I taped it. Classic.

Anette is a tourney player mostly isn't she? Never really seen her play much cash. Some of her moves on the tourney tables have been epic. She can soul read.

now for a gratuitous pirate emoticon. :eek2:
  • Esfandiari pisses me off because he never STFU.

Hellmuth is the man. (so is his mole imo)
  • I have never laughed so hard at a poker show as I did the last few episodes of this PAD. Esfandiari and Laak needling Hellmuth like that was one of the greatest things I've ever seen. He was so defeated he couldn't even go on some massive tilt-rant.

I am afraid all I hear when ever Hellmuth talks is the grownup voices from Charlie Brown...

No, you are not a conceited jackass; especially after the self confession you have never had a major cash in a tournament. Phil Hellmuth is hopeless and cannot play.. your an idiot.

Um, I don't play MTTs. Did you watch the show or are you just blurting out random statements again?

Another hard day beating on defenseless animals? Maybe some meds would be a good idea for this bipolar thing you have going on?

Effing brilliant! you hit it right on. I seriously laugh out loud.
  • I think Hellmuth is pretty much like Terry Bradshaw: great in his heyday, but now just a muppet version of his former self trying to live off past glory because he can no longer do what he used to at a top level. Except Bradshaw is actually funny.
  • Hellmuth cracks me up....

goes on tilt over folding that A,8... and is constantly on tilt about it, hours later...

    then gets ante'd out..

    priceless.
  • The problem I see with Hellmuth...is the game has grown and evolved...and he hasn't.
  • The thing about Hellmuth is, he's a great NLHE tournament player when he's playing deep stacked. But when he gets short stacked he has no idea how to play properly as shown perfectly in this PAD session. Less than 10BB folding K10 on the button in a 3 handed game? Jesus Christ man, that whole stack should have been in the middle. Just overall pathetic. And the fact that he even said that he played perfectly just goes to show how completely delusional that guy is. I really wish I could have been there to watch him while he watched this episode, just so I could have seen the look of disgust on his face as he saw how bad Antonio outplayed him.

Fucked thing is, I emulated my style from him (read all his books and blogs), and now im second guessing it...
  • Well that explains a lot then.

I have seen quoted before that Hellmuth values tv time above all else due to x # of minutes producing y amount of poker-related revenue for him. So, perhaps it is all an elaborate marketing ploy by him -- noone with his experience in tournies could really play that badly, could they?

I certainly believe he is far outclassed in the recent televised cash games, but this STT must be some sort of ploy by him.
  • But does the negative fashion he is portrayed in, both in losing style and attitude, really have a positive expectation for poker related revenue? Who buys a losing player's book or clothing? Or plays at a scamming site?

Well, I'm trying to come up with a reason for his play in this session. And I assume the general public doesn't know about UB scams. I mean, I even see players on this forum occasionally post hand histories from UB and they would be much more knowledgeable than the general public.
  • He crushed the world for many many years... he is getting out played by online guys even now...

this is one of my favs
