Psychology of Poker - Schoonmaker

Just started reading this. Anybody else done so? I can see this moving right up my list of favourite poker books.

  • Wait till mine comes out.
  • Knew I should not have taken you off "ignore" . . .
  • Not this one, but "Your Worst Poker Enemy" ranks up there for me...that one is on my "to buy" list though.

at falls view, the last saturday every month..... mandy thompson and I play lots. PLO in brantford and HE in Niagra.

believe it or not, Im well known for my theatrics at the tables.

2,7 game is always in play, and ive never busted.

    you figure it out....

nothing like taking a 500$ pot and throwin 2,7 at a donk.
  • I got this book a while back when I did some bonus offer through 2+2. Haven't read it yet, not even really sure where it is. Guess I'll have to look for it.

  • If im looking to buy 10 poker books tomorrow what would your guys lists be?
  • Super/System 1 -2
Harrington on Hold Em Vol 1-3
Harrington on Cash Games Vol 1-2
    Theory Of Poker
    Ace On The River
Mike Caro's Book Of Poker Tells
  • I put this jerk off on ignore and then everyone else, who I thought would have him on ignore as well, keep responding to him and I still have to view his crap.
I was truly interested in the book thread, but now I have to sift through all the replies to his (epic-donk, incase you were still guessing) responses that I was originally fortunate enough to have missed.

Replies are just fuel to his fire! No replies, No fuel, No more Yeah!

    I feel better,

What part of the book did you find the most interesting thus far?

    Milton Slim
  • I'm only 50 pages in . . . I like the premise that it is not about strtaegies, but rather motivations, personal and otherwise. The book seems to be forcing you to look at yourself in a more honest way, to determine why you are doing certain things in your play. Not really a traditional poker book, in that sense. Maybe that is why I like it . . .

    10 books:

    Harrington Tourney Books Vol. 1,2,3.
    Theory of Poker by Sklansky.
Read 'em and Reap by Navarro.
    Moshman's Sit 'n' Go book.
NLHE Theory and Practice by Miller/Sklansky.
Poker Math by Chen (note: you really need to be a Mathie to get through this).
Pot Limit Omaha by Jeff Hwang (hey, any little edge, right?).
    Psychology of Poker by Schoonmaker.

There is also a U of T Stats prof who has put out a little book and strat card that will allow you to look like a moron, but make $$$ right away at low limit Hold 'em. I am talking Brantford 2/5, that sort of game. Cannot think of his name or the title at the moment. I'll add it when I get home.
