Just wondering if there will be any heads up tournaments? I know they had the 5k last year. Would be nice if there were a few more each year also with some smaller buyins.
The 5k Canadian Open HU will be later in the year and a possibly at a new venue. Nothing set in stone but it will be after WSOP and we want to sat it out well too, more info to come.
ya, alberta gaming is kinda forcing this years headsup out of calgary with their television ban. id expect it to go to fallsview or somewhere out east.
Here is the thing. It costs 100k plus to shoot an event at rebroadcast quality. Many sites would help that if they get theirs in return.
AGLC (and other gaming commisions) want zero to do with any site operating out of a tax heaven. No affiliations (tags, shirts, felts etc) allowed in the shoot.
So the last heads up that was filmed, the questions was asked, "What if it gets put in later?" The answer was "outside of gaming space, we have no juristiction"
And it was, life was good and a star studed event made the airwaves.
Last year, Hellmuth, Mike the Mouth, Booth, Huck and Jeff Madsen to name just a few TV pros show. Everything is set to be shot and then AGLC puts a total film ban, stating the "spirit" of the regulation had previously been violated. Now, film has been allowed, but no live action.
But this isn't the only province and there are a few venues closer to borders that would not only see the event cap, but welcome all the dollars that comes with it. And the let the cameras roll.

Wish the buyin was bigger..but I guess in order to get more people you need to keep it small. I'll play forsure though, should be fun.
Theres a HU tourney? Any idea what the buyin would be?
It's 5k every year
