  • Wow. A little short on info. Saying I have abosuletely no idea how anyone plays I would raise my standard to 3BB. If reraise I would probably call depending on the amount. I probably won't call an all-in since they basically have you covered. If I get callers and flop is check to me I bet regardless about 2/3-3/4 of the pot. I am check a set though if the flop doesn't look to draw happy. It someone bets the flop it really depends what the flop looks like. After the flop it depends on everything else that happens to that point.

    Hey CO
What are the current blind levels at?
Is this a S&G or an MTT?
    How many players left?
    What's the average stack size?

    Cheers
  • Someone recently posted another TT hand looking for advice. This situation is different since you have great position.

I'm thinking you want callers for a chance to really build your stack. This is likely the best hand out there but it won't improve much. There is a slim chance you are dominated by higher pairs in the blinds but I think this is a reasonable risk to take. Against 2 random hands, you are more than 57% likely to showdown the best hand. Even against 1 randomly selected Sklanksy type 1-4 hand, you are a slight favourite. I like those odds.

In the absence of the parameters already noted, my standard suggestion is to go to 3X BB. If someone comes over the top at you, I'm tempted to go all-in.

If it is more than half your stack, I guess you could just push them all in but then I'm not sure if you'll get callers. You do want callers, right? I hate smooth calling! At least make them pay.

On the other hand, I don't want to have to make a tough decision after the flop, since there are likely to be overcards there. Hmmm. If the blinds are big enough, push a bunch of chips in there and just go for the steal. If the blinds are miniscule, maybe just go for 2X BB. If someone pushes back, go all in. If you get called and have overcards on the flop, proceed with caution. Be prepared to dump your hand if someone shows strength after the flop, assuming you have not improved.

    I hate middle pairs. Meh...

    Someone help me out here.

Yup, that was me and I laughed when I saw this question regarding TT so soon after posting mine. I'm thinking I know what I would do but seeing how well I butchered TT I better tell CO to take my advice with a huge grain of salt. (You've been warned) ;)
In any event in this situation if the tourney is in the later stages and the blinds are substantial I would push in my stack. >>>now I have position, not like the last time<<< :banghead:

If I am in the earlier stages of the tourney I will go 3xBB and would back off if any of the blinds pushed back. If one reraised 3BB I would probably call but if they pushed in I would fold. I want to avoid a coinflip this early in. If one of them just called and then checked the flop I would probably lead back right into them no matter what hit the flop. If overcards hit and they came out swinging I would let TT go.

Again CO, take with a huge grain of salt. I post what I would do as much to exercise my own mind as to attempt to enlighten others.

    How did it end up?

  • I think a 3 x bb raise is OK. I also think limping in is OK. I don't really prefer one to another. T-T is hard to play pre-flop. It is much easier to play post-flop.

Probably I favour limping. Raising will tend to win the blinds which is OK, but not too relevant at this point. Limping hopes to take down a big one.

Later in the tournament I will alsmost certainly raise and hope that someone puts me on a steal attempt.
